Our monthly Scottish Parliament vigil, currently focused on opposition to the Rosebank oilfield, was joined yesterday by 3 MSPs. There was also good news that there will be a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing in the Scottish Parliament this week. #StopRosebank #peoplesemergencybriefing

At the Labour Party Conference we were involved in two faces of the resistance to Rosebank. Our prayer vigil in the evening was a faith response to the harm that Rosebank would do to all that God loves. It’s important for the Government to see how wide the resistance to Rosebank is. #StopRosebank

Early start for us at the Labour Party Conference protesting outside the Offshore Energies UK briefing session on North Sea oil and gas. OEUK is the leading trade association for the UK offshore energy industry (formerly known as Oil & Gas UK). Ed was right then and is still right now on this.

For starters, it doesn’t make economic sense. Then there’s the quite important matter of not making the climate crisis worse. The UK government needs to show climate leadership on this decision in the next few weeks. We can’t delay climate leadership at this critical time. #stoprosebank

Today we launched our fossil fuel banking table showing which Church of England cathedrals still bank with fossil fuel funding banks and which say they plan to switch. Most CofE cathedrals are still supporting fossil fuel funders and we hope this will encourage more of them to bank ethically. 1/2

You can join our campaign to let the National Trust know that we love them but we don’t love their bank - Barclays - funders of climate destruction. Make a sign, take it to a National Trust site and snap a photo. Post your photos on social media with the #NationalTustDropBarclays tagging in the NT.

Rev Sue Parfitt was one of four people on trial this last week for their actions with Insulate Britain. The jury failed to reach a verdict and was discharged. Sue told the prosecutor: “I am honoured beyond my words to be able to to do this at 84 for your children and your grandchildren”

Rosebank will lock in emissions that that cause global overheating and climate change. Vulnerable people everywhere are praying that they that they are spared this. #StopRosebank

We went to GB News with a message for co-owner Sir PaulMarshall. We were in prayer and song and silence to bear witness to the potential for good that is daily lost to us by the way GB News reports on issues related to the climate. GB News could help save lives if it told the truth. But it doesn’t.

After a summer of heatwaves, an unprecedented El Niño on the way, and with thousands still missing in Nepal, approving new oil and gas would be criminal! Yet it seems the Government will approve the North Sea Jackdaw field next week. Ask your MP to tell the Government NO to #Jackdaw and #Rosebank.

The signs say it all. Just Stop Oil took to the road outside Parliament again. Vicars, priests and other Christians, alongside people of all faiths and none, speaking out for Creation. It is time for us all to be saying to our governments- stop burning our world, just stop burning fossil fuels.

Thank you everyone who came to see, hear and talk with us at the always inspiring Greenbelt Festival this weekend. It was amazing to be alongside you all, to have those moving and challenging climate conversations and to know that so many of us are together in action and advocacy for the planet.

If you are at Greenbelt this weekend, look out for us - spot someone in one of our T-shirts around the site, stop and say hi. We love to have a bit of a chat. And we are involved in these two sessions, so come to them and then stop to tell us what you think. #GreenbeltFestival

Five heatwaves in the UK this summer! They are becoming more common because of climate change. They will become worse in the future if we don’t do something. There is a way to lessen future effects at the same time as making energy more secure and cheaper and that is investment in renewable energy.

Day 2 of our Stop Rosebank vigil - You can't watch Britain and Europe burn and then argue that the answer is more oil. Firefighters battling hundreds of wildfires, half of England in drought - approving Rosebank would be pouring fuel on the fire. #StopRosebank #ClimateCrisis #nofaithinfossilfuels

Rosebank won’t cool a single home, lower a single bill or stop a single wildfire. But it will lock in decades more emissions. So as the Government considers its decision, we keep watch. Join us 12.30 - 1.30pm outside HM Treasury, 1 Horse Guards Road SW1A 2HQ all this week to say #stoprosebank

Our situation calls for rather more from the Government than asking us to avoid doing things that may accidentally start a fire. The Government is fiddling (round the edges) while the country burns (literally). Come on Mr Burnham, please also address what’s fuelling the fire. #climateactionnow

We’ve called our campaign ‘A Summer of Picnics’ because we’d love for you to have a picnic when you go with your sign, it’s a representation of the generosity, connection and care that we want institutions like the National Trust to embody. And there is love and magic in the act of sharing food.

Christian Climate Action @cclimateaction.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
The National Trust is still banking with an institution that seems committed to unethical and destructive investment, and whose organisational values seem so at odds with the NT we love. We have launched a new campaign to remind them that they really should move their finances away from Barclays.

While wildfires burn and we swelter through heatwaves, Shell announced a £7.4 billion last quarter profit. It’s utterly irresponsible and morally reprehensible, and each week we hold a vigil to lament this brokenness. This week we joined a bigger protest, because this wrong should be a big story.

Over 18,000 people and 180 organisations signed the open letter to the new Energy Secretary telling her to reject Rosebank. Oil & gas fields like Rosebank will mean communities pay the price of global warming while Big Oil cashes in. Thank you to #stoprosebank and all of you who signed the letter.

Banking with Barclays is not aligned with a commitment to safeguard the integrity of creation. Barclays is increasing the amount of financing it provides to fossil fuels projects that are harming the world, and all who live in it.

A retired vicar and three others from CCA were convicted today after dropping a banner saying "Don't Crucify Creation” from Bath Abbey as part of a national day of action last year, calling on the Church of England to speak out more about the existential threat of the Climate and Nature Emergency.

Saddened by the outcome of the debate yesterday. The Church Commissioners chose to oppose the motion, the Church’s Lead Bishop for the Environment brought an amendment that effectively blocked it. The depleted state of our nature is critical and urgent - we need much greater leadership and action.

Christian Climate Action @cclimateaction.bsky.social · 13/07/2026
Why must the Church of England Synod pass the motion to use 30% of Church Commissioners vast landholdings to protect nature? Today’s Government report on delivering the vital 30% by 2030 to protect nature says only 7% of land in England meets the 30by30 criteria. Shockingly bad news for nature.
033
Christian Climate Action @cclimateaction.bsky.social · 10/07/2026
We are praying that the Church of England’s General Synod passes the motion to protect nature on Church Commissioners' land in line with the scale and urgency of the climate and biodiversity crises. The Commissioners hold the responsibility and the opportunity to lead in restoring God’s creation.

Not everyone can engage in protest in the way we did on Waterloo Bridge but I believe those of us who can are being called to a deeper, more radical and more sacrificial way of life at this moment in history. God is calling the followers of Jesus and of other faith traditions to step up to the plate

CCA’s 84 year old Rev Sue Parfitt - one of seven acquitted today by a jury of interfering with key national infrastructure by marching slowly on Waterloo Bridge. We are grateful to Sue, her co-defendants, and all those who risk their liberty to try to get meaningful action on the climate crisis.

The heatwave has given us a glimpse of the very real, very serious consequences of rapid climate change. This is why we give up our time, money, comfort and sometimes our liberty, to get business and government to do the right thing. Maybe it’s time to join us.

Christian Climate Action @cclimateaction.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
In the heat we’ve been outside the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference because it claims to be building responsible citizenship, but irresponsibly promotes speakers who advocate rolling back on the limited progress that we have made on lowering emissions and addressing climate change.

Our vigilers were careful today taking all the necessary precautions, and it was important for them to stand in solidarity with all those who are unable to protect themselves, all those that are suffering from this heat. The frequency and intensity of heatwaves has increased worldwide.
