I have already heard from trans constituents who are avoiding essential NHS screening and treatment for fear of being treated without respect and dignity. Ministers told me: “the revised guidance will support the privacy, dignity and safety of all patients” How exactly does this do that?

Putin's bombs are killing Ukrainian civilians, and Donald Trump is funding them by buying Russian diesel. The UK must stand up and call this what it is: another Trump betrayal of the Ukrainian people and European security.

That’s the point behind every public execution - Roman crucifixions, Tudor beheadings, the guillotine of the French Revolution and the lynchings of the American South. It’s not about justice. It’s about fear.

And just to be clear: lesbians support trans rights because we know that all of this is gender. Who you fancy and have sex with, how you present yourself and who for, all of that is socially prescribed *by your sex assigned at birth*. We hold the line for trans people and for ourselves.

Lucas is justifiably angry that Polanski didn’t oppose the Zionism motion and didn’t stay to vote against it. Let’s not forget this is the same Polanski that didn’t vote in the local elections but then also lied about it. Does he have some aversion to voting or is he just an incompetent populist?

Matthew Shepard would be 49 years old today. But on this day 28 years ago he was beaten, tortured, tied to a fence and left to die by two young men whose violence was founded on homophobia. The attitudes and beliefs which fed their hate are still with us today. Don't ever let Matthew be forgotten.

Pollution has led to a spate of beach closures all summer long. Yet water quality is only regularly tested during the summer months, despite many sites being popular all year. No matter the time of year, we need to give people confidence that our bathing waters are safe to use.
Daily Record.

Half of Scots wild swimming hotspots breached pollution standards in 2026.

Bathing locations like Portobello beach in Edinburgh and Lower Largo in Fife were found to have unsafe levels of 'faecal bacteria' such as E.coli.
