I'm not sure how to start this. So I'm going to speak from the heart and share the truth. Ed Sheeran and his team have made the decision to remove me from The Loop tour.

But before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious. In this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.

The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone. People are being killed today, and people will be killed tomorrow. I want to make sure that as I tell this story, we don't lose sight of that.

so my spouse is part of a weirdly intense but mostly benign men's workout group that meets at like, 5:30am outside every day, even in winter. they do a lot of burpees and lugging cinder blocks up hills and stuff.
they take turns leading the workouts and tomorrow is his turn. I asked what he was planning. he handed me a sheet of William Carlos William poems from a large stack he'd printed.
I said "what" and he explained, helpfully, "it's a William Carlos William themed workout." I asked what inspired it and he said "l've been planning this for months."

it was a smash hit.
a dozen guys showed up (more than usual). spouse brought a red wheelbarrow and they took turns bringing cinder blocks up the hill with it. then they broke up in teams and did a relay with an "icebox" (cooler filled with 40lbs of ice). at the end he opened the cooler to reveal it was full of beach plum lacroix and all the guys cheered. they drank sparkling water as he read 'approach of winter' out loud.
he was home by 6:30am.

I am loving all the Dolly clips and songs and stories. Here’s one that a friend of mine shared—it's about self-respect.

It occurs to me that the time has come to tell the story of the one time I ever spoke to Dolly Parton (for about five minutes or less, on the phone). Some of you will already know this one, but for the ones who don't:
So almost 15 years ago now, I was working from home while living in a log cabin in Sevierville, Tennessee (if you didn't know, that's where Dolly grew up, and where Dollywood is today). I didn't have much to get me out of the house, so I got a part-time job at the library to have a reason to go out.
I worked in the children's section as an assistant librarian, and when we had a literacy event, I thought it would be very cool, with Dolly's interest in children's literacy and her well-known charity, to have her either come in to the event (which I saw as unlikely) or maybe record us a super quick video (which I thought she might actually do).
I asked the senior librarians if we knew her contact info, and got kind of a snort in response. "Oh, we have her number. You can try. Good luck!"
Uh, weird? So I called the number, her assistant answered, I explained a bit about who I was, the assistant put me on hold for about 5 minutes, and suddenly with no warning it was the unmistakable voice of Dolly Parton, asking me how she could help me today.
I had not expected to talk to her, only to her assistant. So I'm sure I sounded nervous and rushed as I explained to her what I was asking for to make our literacy event better, and why I thought she'd be so perfect since she's from there and knows how these kids need the support.

And she said to me:
"Well honey I think it's great that the kids at the library have someone as passionate as you are working for them. And you know I want every kid to be able to read."
I knew from how she said it that there was going to be a "but."
"But there's something you have to understand. All the people on that library board today are the exact people who bullied me and made me feel worthless the whole time I was growing up. And I made a promise to myself that I wasn't going to give any of them any help or do anything for them I didn't have to do. I really hope your event goes well and you sound like a good person, but I hope you understand this isn't something I can do."
I told her I very much understood, and wished her well, and was so incredibly delighted I'd gotten to talk to her.
She never once did work with them. You won't find one event where Dolly ever, ever did work with those people on the Sevier County Library Board. Not all the way up to the end.
She was one of a kind. RIP.

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

I did an OCR conversion of all my PDFs to make text files, built a semantic search index, and can just let my agents roam free to answer questions, fact-check, dig up interesting stories, quotes, etc. It takes a lot of the hard work out, as well as a lot of the human error. 2/2

I think the lesson corporations in the media/entertainment business should learn from this avatar thing is that it is not enough to not use genAI in “the creative parts” of the process. Any indication that it was used in *any* part of the process spoils the product for a huge chunk of your audience.
