A couple of weeks ago, I got to play OD&D in Gary Gygax's old home in Lake Geneva. It was an unforgettable experience. I played an 8th level Fighting-Man (the precursor to today's Fighter), Actus Rain! Please enjoy my drawing of him. #dnd #WOTCstaff

A picture of me in Gary's old office. A framed photo of Gary overlooks his wooden desk, which is strewn with photos, books, a globe, and a sand-green typewriter.

A drawing on the pack of an index card of Actus Rain, my armored Fighting-Man. He has battle scars and a prominent forehead.

This photo shows the worn stairs down to Gary's basement. He went up and down them many, many times, so there are grooves in the steps from erosion.

Watched Brand New Day with my parents today. Here are some spoiler-free quotes from them: "Why does Spider-Man have electronics?" "Is Kobe McGuire in this one?" "Shia LaBeouf was my favorite Spider-Man." (loud whisper during an emotional scene) "ASK HIM IF HE WANTS ANY SODA." *cup rattling*

See you next year, #GenCon! I had a great time. Congratulations to all the Ennie nominees and winners, and thank you to everyone who stopped by the D&D Tower—I hope you found it as magical as I did. Special thanks to my dragon handlers, who helped me cast Shapechange on Saturday evening! #WOTCstaff

I got a new keyboard and desk mat at work, and I am very excited about it. Also, the office snack of the month is Dunkaroos. Everyone is excited about that.

A creamy-clacky white keyboard with a yellow space bar rests atop a space-themed desk mat. Various nerdy things are arranged nearby.

Last year when I started my blues course, I also began working with an LA-based luthier to build a replacement for my electric guitar, whose weight was causing problems for my back. Not long ago, this wonderful Show Pony arrived at my musical lair, courtesy of Tone Ranger Guitars. She's pretty!

Like many other Iranian Americans, I spent much of yesterday glued to my phone. In the evening, however, I spontaneously volunteered to man a "bluegrass petting zoo" for a few hours at an opry in Kenmore, WA. It was delightful to see people of all ages interact with instruments for the first time.

A view of one of the stages at Copperworks Distilling Co. displays a bluegrass banner alongside a pride flag.

Another year, another #Wintergrass! Last February, I was too shy to play with other musicians at this festival. This year, however, I formed a jam circle with other members of the Outlanders Progressive Bluegrass Social Club along with a few spontaneous recruits! It was really special.

A jam circle at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bellevue. I am playing an acoustic guitar, while other musicians in the circle play mandolin, a cigar-box banjo, and an upright bass.

I summoned the courage to attend my first bluegrass jam this week. I learned a lot and plan to return. The best part? There was a bluegrass dog! The woofs and boofs were quite musical.

A happy little brown dog wags its tail in the middle of a jam circle of players with acoustic instruments—an upright bass, a mandolin, and a Martin guitar.
