A hard part of solving weird issues and then describing them, is that in retrospect you always should've solved it earlier. It was usually obvious with the knowledge you have now. There were numerable junctures you should've made a different choice in. But GETTING to those junctures ~is the skill~.

I AM SHRIEKING 💀🤣 Forget the statue at City Hall, this guy is the *real* Spirit of Detroit. 🫡

A review for a Little Caesar’s somewhere by Kevin S:

Stopped into this Little Caesars just trying to get a $6 pizza and ended up in a full on action movie. Just as I grabbed my order, this furious dude barges in yelling about how I cut him off in traffic earlier.
Before I can even respond, he throws a punch but then out of nowhere the guy behind the counter jumps over it like he's been waiting for this moment his whole life and just beats the living hell out of the guy. The guy ran off and the cashier just dusted himself off. I said "are you ok man" and he looked me dead in the eye and said "B*tch, this is Little Caesars. We always hot and ready."
Five stars. Will absolutely return.

Building a container via GitHub Actions, it suddenly occurred to me that I can hasten the build by... not building for amd64. It's been a default for so long, but neither my laptop nor the builder nor the cluster the container lives on speak that architecture. Times have changed.

When I met Ryan Coogler several years ago, we were standing in a group of people chatting, when a woman with visible hearing aids walked up, and he casually began to sign the whole conversation so she could participate. She mouthed “thank you”. He nodded and just kept doing his thing.

Is your goddamned web browser not already an everything app? I can do my online banking, book a flight, browse porn, read a book, and watch TV all in Chrome. What the fuck does an "everything app" mean if not that

The worst outages of my career have *all* been after deploy freezes. The longer the freeze, the worse the mess. We can do better than this. People deserve better. ✨

Tue @ ArgoCon @santana.dev & I will be speaking about ArgoCD Application observability. This won't be builtin metrics nor metrics from the app but in-depth details of the deployment process. Learn to find apps ArgoCD says are sync'd/healthy but are not actually running yet/failing sched.co/1u5dy

Becoming a manager can be tough as the skills that got you promoted may now hinder you: • Empowering your team matters more than doing the work yourself. • Your output shifts to meetings and feedback. • It’s about your team’s impact: represent their work upward and communicate leadership’s downward.

This guy (and Winton Marsalis’s public radio program in the early nineties) is how I consumed jazz before I went to college. His show was also in the vein of Marshall Dodge: he was the last of Maine’s bone-dry humorists.
