Two good questions. He'll find it hard to wriggle away from the Good Friday Agreement. You're right about the Irish government. They had to rush to prevent manœuvres towards a refendum by the British government during the Brexit process.

Fair play to Ed Miliband, who has broken the political consensus, spoken sense in the Commons and acknowledged our shared humanity. Of course, the government could and should go much further, especially in condemning the continuing horrors in Gaza and stopping ALL arms sales, but this is a start.

If you’re wondering why UK press has suddenly woken up to Farage, please read this. It’s because: Brexit. The r/w press refused to scrutinise the money behind Farage & the lawsuit against me scared off the rest. But this isn’t a new scandal. It’s the same one I’ve been reporting on for a decade

There's an international money network reaching the 4 corners of the world, stretching back hundreds of years that controls much of the UK. A dusty, old, untouchable world within a world. Cocooned by its own police force and fuelled by the pound sterling. On the day they adopt the Euro pigs will fly

Interesting read. The long and short of it is, without any actual voting members and controlled by just 2 people (and lots of billionaire donors), if Reform win the general election, we effectively become an Oligarchy/Dictatorship. Our liberty is on the line here.

That distinction is irrelevant. If you truly believe your system of government is so democratically deficient so as to not at all being able to represent the will of the people, then 1) it certainly shouldn't be a member of the EU and 2) you should revolt against what is clearly outright tyranny.

Absolutely correct, the historical record is unambiguous. Britain voted to leave the EU, celebrated leaving the EU and spent years denouncing the EU. Calling that anything other than a rejection is simply revisionism.

Brilliant from Fintan O'Toole, as you'd expect. Firstly, key point, 🇪🇺 allowed coloniser and colonised to sit togehter as equals. And note the efforts on the part of the UKG over the years to show respect and make that work. Brexit through that in the bin 1 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Nobody objects to improving implementation. The absurdity is pretending EES is the root cause rather than a system designed to manage a border the UK chose to create. Brexit generated the friction; EES records it. Blaming the thermometer for the fever is a curious line of argument.

Still with the 'can't join the EU from a position of weakness'. This mindset has to go if the UK is to ever become a member of the EU ever again. Nothing is forced, there is no EU bullying. A nation either accepts the 4 freedoms or doesn't. It gets equal rights & same presidency as everyone else!
