I don’t understand how long Covid can be a thing of controversy. Are we really out here saying the pandemic was simply a matter of “you died or you didn’t”? That’s not how anything works, and it’s more infuriating this “live or die” false dichotomy is coming from some of the medical pros as well.

Non-US writers, I checked with the Anthropic settlement folks and we do need to file W-8 BEN forms to avoid IRS tax withholding. Thanks to the nice helpline people for the response. Here is the form: www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/...
If you are not a US resident, provide Form W-8BEN: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf

This allows you to certify nonresident status. Upload your documentation in the update information portal. You will need your claim number and the email address used to submit your claim.

For the first time in my life, I'm buying shoes* to deal with a difficult situation. * I normally buy shoes only once in a blue moon and basically wear the same pair until it falls apart. I haven't had sneakers since I was a teen (probably early teens: I had a pair of lovely white high Kangaroos)

Watching your parents age and become frail is *hard*. Today, we had to call the ambulance for my dad because he had difficulties breathing. It turns out he has fluid in his lungs. My mom was near to tears and was nearly trembling bec she was so nervous. She's now at the hospital with my dad...

Gave up on the weird US American mystery series with the fake dialogue yesterday, tried a Chinese mystery series today - it's one of those bleak "all scenes are either set at night or are shot in a really, really bad light" shows and as the cherry on top, the dialogue has been translated so badly...

I started watching a new-to-me small-town cozy mystery series, and I'm weirded out by the characters. Most of them seem so... fake. And even though I'm merely 19 minutes in, I've thought about half a dozen times already, "Who in the world talks like that?!?!?" Murder, She Wrote it ain't. ::sigh::
