I’m all for different analyses about 2016, but people seemed to have memory holed that Joe didn’t run in 2016 because he was still mourning Beau who died in 2015.

There’s a meteor shower tonight & Youngest took me for a drive to find some dark sky. Saw 3 meteors before I got too cold. Fox count was 4.

I managed to squeak into town just in time to catch their very last performance of the day. Oldest and his quartet from UNR performing for sr high band. They also played for both schools in Portola. Tomorrow is northern Plumas.
Four college students dressed in jeans and blue shirts on a high school band room playing alto, tenor, bari, and soprano saxes.

At the dealership 80 miles from home having the clear coating fixed after a botched install. It’s a 2 hr curvy drive each way. They’re supposed to fill up my car since I’m spending $6/gallon to get here and home and this is their fuck up. *quizzical head tilt from service dept. *

Oldest is touring the county with his saxophone quartet from school. Of course I am currently out of town doing stupid car errands.

This was 💯 about disenfranchising Black voters by changing which crimes are considered felonies to cover more minor offenses and then over policing Black people. Jim Crow masquerading as tough on crime. I hope they manage to fix it.

I do know someone who did this bc she works in an office where it’s a job expectation & she was tired of always being last. I find it deeply weird that there’s peer pressure in work settings for this, but that part is apparently true.

I’m in the fuck it, it’s soup season mood even though the weather is not cooperating. Chicken and wild rice soup tonight in the IP. But using rotisserie chicken. I bought it at Sam’s and it makes me incandescently angry how much Safeway rips us off here.

Knowing that he lacked serious military experience and had a documented drinking problem should have been enough. He is unqualified. He was unqualified then, too.

My SIL won the family’s first eggnog of the season contest weeks ago. Nevada always puts their eggnog out so early. Unfair.

Anyone know a good quick reference book for Latin roots? Youngest is struggling with his taxonomy class bc the instructor is just throwing dozens of plants at them without context. I think knowing the roots of their scientific names would help.

CA is not the Jefferson weirdos. It’s people tired of paying taxes to have our piece of shit president block our fair share of revenue for things like FEMA.

I’m one of those weirdos who do answer text polls, so they are at least sometimes counting this rural voter. Granted I’m not a normal voter in terms of info but they do always ask for zip code, so they know who is rural

Why do Californians sometimes screw up their votes on Propositions? Because our voters guide is 176 pages long and full of legalese. Seek out the civics group you most closely align with to find out what their yes/no suggestions are.

I’m making baked salmon (Coho to see if I like it better) and air fried cauliflower for dinner. I broke down and ordered buckwheat so I can try it because that doesn’t seem to exist in any grocery store in the region.

It's Banned Books Week. My fellow librarians, listen carefully: your book displays should be almost exclusively writers who are alive. Yes, I know classic literature is also being banned, but most of those authors are dead. They aren't suffering financially from bans and challenges.

We got some lightning overnight and have already had 2 starts. Looks like they’ve hopped on both, but not looking forward to the warm up where more lightning fires could crop up. They can smolder for a week or more.

Spent a good hour + on our way home from Bend at a logging museum Hubs has passed dozens of times but never been able to visit. He nerded out so cutely.
Collier State Park Logging Museum sign carved from logs and placed on old equipment A McGiffert Log Loader which is a huge machine on railroad rails. Hubs is tiny compared to it Hubs explaining how the big yellow machine works while I nod along pretending I’m understanding anything A green Fresno grader with leaning wheels

The lunch Hubs’s company provided consisted of fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and teriyaki pork. All stuff not on our diet. Thank goodness for a hearty breakfast. He had 3 pieces of cauliflower and a fistful of lettuce for lunch. I had jerky and some mixed nuts we brought from home. 😂

Discovering how difficult it is to find restaurants that accommodate for whole grains. Lots of gluten free options these days, but those are mostly refined rice flour. Good luck finding whole wheat anything.

Hubs has decided on Thai hot pot in place of the pizza they’re planning for tomorrow evening because I can’t have the pizza crust and he can’t have the dairy. Cannot wait for the commentary about cooking his own food. (No, we’ve never done hot pot for precisely that reason)

The room isn’t fancy, but our view is lovely and we have a small balcony. Plus I got a zero sugar added Iced Cocomo, so I’m fully caffeinated and ready to spend some time reading. Hubs has meetings starting at noon.

Not to add to the discourse, but I chose to stay home with my kids 90% because childcare would have eaten up all of my paycheck. And once they got old enough, reentry into the traditional workplace was pretty unforgiving for applicants without a recent work history.

Of all of the so-called healthier whole grains, the only one I can stand is quinoa. I do not like the chewy texture of them all. I didn’t think I had this many food texture sensitivities, but nope. I did.
