Oddly, they don’t include photos of the cat and dog. Here’s ΖΜΑΡΑΓΔΙΝ (Zmaragdin, ‘Emerald’) the cat (who is appropriately on its own luxe pillow), and a leaping ΩΚΕΑΝΟΣ (Okeanos, ‘Ocean’) the dog. 📸 Anatolian Archaeology
From a large floor mosaic which depicts a grid of panels, each with its own image against a black background, dividing by strands of guilloche. This one depicts a white cat on a pillow, its name in Greek above, translating to ‘Emerald’.From a large floor mosaic which depicts a grid of panels, each with its own image against a black background, dividing by strands of guilloche. It was on 18 September 96 CE that Nerva became emperor, after Domitian was assassinated. According to Suetonius, Domitian had decided not to have Nerva murdered because a horoscope foretold the sickly Nerva wouldn't live long. (Nerva in fact survived about another two years before dying of illness.)
