I wrote about Premier Doug Ford's apparent indifference to human life for @thestar.com: www.thestar.com/opinion/star...

Graeme Bayliss: His cyclist friend was killed. Why did Doug Ford’s response include ‘lmao’?
No one is expecting the premier to mash out the Bixby letter on his iPhone. Yet we might expect more than this.

I have had ME/CFS for 20 years. I would like treatment or, even better, a cure. At the very least, I would like people to treat ME/CFS as something that demands and deserves sustained medical research.

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Yes though from the Toronto context, I think the left here often gets to "explain why it has happened" and then assume the argument is over; a lot of time and words were expended explaining why Rob Ford's criticisms of City Hall lacked important context and basically none of it mattered.

Something about VERY LARGE HAIL that would be almost funny if the outside didn't look spectral and terrifying right now. Not large hail, mind you. VERY LARGE HAIL.

Remembering Some Guys on Murder, She Wrote took me to a dark place. Bill Maher was in two episodes. The first also had Roddy McDowall and Brad Dourif. The second: John Finnegan, Faith Ford, David Huddleston, and Bryan Cranston (in one of his THREE MSW appearances).

Incredible shot.
In the foreground, a person sits in the water with just their head and shoulders visible above the surface. The reflection of their head in the water forms dark brown lines towards the bottom of the image. In the distance, the skyline of Toronto is faintly visible through the orange haze of wildfires. The effect is apocalyptic, but that’s only because we’re living in the early days of the apocalypse.

This is just an incredible section. Do these "intimidation tactics" involve anything more than "specific patients groups" monitoring research to identify "formal flaws"? The PACE trial is dead; long live the PACE trial. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PACE_tr...
The argument that ME/CFS patients and their organisations were militant and using methods of harassment was used by the authors to argue against a release of the trial's data. The Information Commissioner dismissed these claims as "wild speculations" and the tribunal found them to be "grossly exaggerated". The judge subsequently ordered a release of the data.

Wemby: “I refuse to carry the burden of having to hide my emotions.” This is amazing.

"Wemby's too emotional." "Wemby should stop crying." "Wemby's gay."
Can we stop with the tired old clichés that treat emotions as a weakness, either in sports or in life in general?
I asked Wemby about why that is. Here's his response:
"That's a tough question. I think it's first and foremost a fear of judgment. Like this feeling that you have to act a certain way, social codes, I guess. Personally, I refuse to carry the burden of having to hide my emotions."
