Using a LLM to write a term paper is useful in a similar way t using a forklift for weightlifting at the gym. Yes, it may be efficient in completing the task, but the value is in the hard work

Qatar is the world's second largest supplier of LNG (liquefied methane) and also the lowest cost supplier. So what do they choose when they need new power generation? Solar. Simple math. When it's their money, oil and gas companies choose solar, while telling you that YOU need their LNG.

29 days since I discovered this BS summary of Clarkesworld being served by Google. Multiple complaints have been filed, yet it is still there, mispresenting us. It's like they refuse to acknowledge the articles that now surround it. (My blog, The Guardian, NPR)
Google results for Clarkesworld (set to verbatim) show an generated description of Clarkesworld that reads:
Clarkesworld Magazine is an American online science fiction and fantasy magazine known for publishing short stories by authors such as Elizabeth Bear, Kij Johnson, and Caitlín R. Kiernan. The magazine has been praised for its high-quality content and diverse range of stories, but has also faced criticism for publishing AI-generated stories.
We've never been criticized for publishing AI-generated stories. We've been VERY critical of the AI companies, including Google over their theft and deceptive marketing of this product.
Articles around their description include my own blog post about the start of AI submissions becoming a problem and both a Guardian and NPR stories about how we had to shut down submissions in response to them.

To be fair, they hype was that AI would make work easier. Did not specify how legal that work would be.
"Even worse, when you Google one of these slop-squatted package names, you’ll often get an AI-generated summary from Google itself confidently praising the package, saying it’s useful, stable, well-maintained. But it’s just parroting the package’s own README, no skepticism, no context. To a developer in a rush, it gives a false sense of legitimacy.

What trickles down is not the money itself, but the corrupted ideals it creates.
In the Texas Tribune article they quote a local rancher who is selling his ranch’s groundwater to the oil and gas industry and seems to have decided it's not “if they ruin” the water but “when.”

“The oil field’s kind of notorious for messing up the groundwater,” he said. “My idea is to sell enough water to where I could save up and buy somewhere else if they do ruin the water.”

He clearly understands how things have always worked and has taken the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” approach by adopting the oil industry’s business model: extract and sell what resources you can for profits and then when there are no more profits, leave town with your money and leave the mess for someone else to clean up.

Upcycling wind turbine nacelles into tiny homes. www.fastcompany.com/91214085/win...
“Most parts of a wind turbine—the foundation, tower, gearbox parts and generator—are made of metal or concrete and therefore easily recyclable,” Vattenfall’s website explains. “Steel, for instance, can be melted down and reused, but the downside is that this takes a lot of energy and creates emissions.”

To address this concern, Vattenfall teamed up with the Dutch Design Foundation‘s design lab last year, asking designers in the area to respond to a key question: “What if a decommissioned wind turbine could become a gold mine of resources?” Rotterdam-based Superuse Studios submitted the idea for a tiny home, which ultimately came to fruition.
