Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

My elderly bookselling aunt got a local witch to make a really alarming looking anti shoplifting ward which hung prominently by the front door. Just a gnarly wad of gristle and feathers and ominous looking knots. She thought it worked and I believe it.

Since I moved to Seattle I have been so fortunate as to make a friend with a huge unused back garden. It’s been a respite and a haven for me. All things end. I will miss many things about this but will miss my friend the most.

A chapbook series my friends and I put out a few years ago is available again through Antiquated Future, including Themba’s piece on finding himself in the middle of the Arab Spring while touring with a Sudanese reggae band. It’s a great read. (He did all the letterpress covers, too)

my translation of a Wang Fanzhi 王梵志/"Brahmacarin Wang" poem:

i have a couple acres of land
plantings on the south mountain slope
four or five pine trees of my own
and two or three hills of beans as well.
when it's hot i just go for a dip in the pond
or take the cool breeze singing on the bank
i come and go as i please and i've got enough
so i'd like to see somebody try me now.

I received some of these very large orders and Biblio allowed me to opt out. Ordinarily they require vendors to keep a high fulfillment percentage to remain on the site. As a tiny business owner it’s tough to turn down sales of this size and many small folks don’t have the luxury of that choice.

Finished Deep In and immediately started to insist that sure, the actual romance part of the romance was irredeemably toxic but the REAL love story is the love we all have in our hearts for the revolutionary and transformative power of queer storytelling.

Rough day, so have a poem about the Jar of Moles in the Grant Zoology Museum in London that everyone has regarded as too thoroughly batshit to publish
Jar of Moles (Grant Zoology Museum, London)
crittery dozened things each pink snout snootling
formaldehyde up it's bamboozler which poor fuck
had to collect them out in the dirt with a shovel
here moley moley BONK . I’m only gonna
put you in a jar and let tourists go eww at you
for the next two hundred years god look at me
for two hundred years I’d do anything look
mummy, one of them’s licking the glass—
honey it's dead velvety sweet sardined hope
their ghosts are friends teeming in a molish
afterlife dark and circular everything worm-
flavoured tasty buggy snackerels what if
you smashed the mole jar? vinegared
moles spilling out flaccid & swimming
everyone screaming someone saying Freddy
you gotta get us a new jar of moles—
—goddammit boss I never asked for any of this
A jar of wet preserved moles, the jar is very full and all the little hands, feet and snoots mark it as both upsetting and fascinating

Happy pride to the new owner of Delany’s gay subversive classic here, for which I wrote an unhinged and sentimental description.
Book description reads: Book would be in fairly nice shape - few dings and some wear to board edges - if it were not for the previous owner, Randy Scott Moon, who was very concerned about getting this book back from whomever he loaned it to. He has adorned the front and back endpapers with his name and various addresses, in lovely and brightly colored calligraphy, fanciful and homemade 'from the library of' stamps, his own catalog number of the book, and a couple of pink Gay Pride triangles. In 1996 it wasn't easy to be out in a northwest college town - I can't imagine it was a picnic in Ohio. I hope Randy continued to live boldly and colorfully and bravely, and I hope whoever buys this book enjoys Randy's enthusiasm. Book cover for Mad Man by Samuel R Delany

Choose your Leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled
by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led
by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar
is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.
