Why is there always one set of forms which a child has given me which are lost to the world until the week we come back from the trip? Given from super efficient Guide and I am ditzy as anything just now, I’m sure I’m the one who put them somewhere safe, never to be found this side of the trip 🙄

Anyone saying people fake disability to rake in benefits instead of working hasn't filled in the Universal Credit Work Capability form. Not a single question about work, but 2 pages detailing how often you shit yourself. Purposefully dehumanising for an extra 217 quid a month

Sewing this evening and Po cat came to help. I’ve only just learned to thread the overlocker- thankfully she didn’t quite unthread it!

Honoured this evening that one of my Guide/Ranger group felt safe enough to come out to me as non-binary. Now I just need to remember to use their new name, which I think might be hard- I’m bad at names anyway!

The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt on display at Tramway in Glasgow just now is an impressively moving reminder of the individual people behind the statistics. A sad reminder too of the harms that stigma and prejudice can bring.

Signing up to the organ donor register is simple, telling your family too is important as they need to know your wishes should the worst happen. Donor organs transform lives and can bring comfort after tragedy . Every week I see donor organs transform and save lives. #OrganDonationWeek

Taking the Guides to London in less than 3 weeks now. Planning for 18months. Pretty much everything is sorted, save what crafts we do on the train. Why am I suddenly anxious about this?

Apparently the smell of an alco wipe is distressing to a cat who has ever been to the vet. I was making up my infusion and she was big eyed and meowing around me. Settled as the smell did. Poor wee thing

I use ambulatory oxygen. I was provided with a portable concentrator, and some small portable cylinders. The community O2 nurses wanted me to use the cylinders because on a walk test I had a better O2 saturation. The cylinder is lighter and gives constant rather than intermittent flow.

I’ve worn a grubby RNLI cap for decades. I sound London, but I was born in Truro and I was a basically feral (Gen X) kid wandering the coast path with a dog until sunset for a lot of my early life. The lifeboats are in the fabric like trawlers and farms and pasties and fish and chips.

One of the most powerful Scottish slow airs is “the Heroes of Longhope” Longhope is in Orkney, and in 1969 8 of their crew met the same fate. Despite that, crews like those in Cornwall in the 80s and more today still go to sea in the worst of weathers to try and save lives, at the risk of their own

Every year on 19 December, the famous Christmas lights at Mousehole in Cornwall are dimmed between 8 and 9pm, leaving just the Cross and Angels shining down across the village and out to sea.

Just been to see the amazing Susan Calman’s stand up show. 10 years from the last, and a clear split of the audience- those of us who saw her as a comedian before (40s -50s lesbians), and the older Strictly/ travel programme lot. Some of the latter were quite discombobulated! Great show- recommend

I spent 8 years living in a village in the middle of nowhere not far from an immigration detention centre. On one evening I was locking up the pub (for clarity I worked there I hadn’t just broken into it) Two men appeared from the pub car park shadows. They were walking slowly towards me

Oxford - please join another unity march against the far right. 12pm Manzil Way, Sat 17th October. It's really important that we show them 'there are many many more of us than you'. The first unity march last autumn was a really joyful event, music, drums and a positive welcome all along Cowley Rd

Last week some of the Guides made pronoun badges. One of our leaders has to leave, because how can she stay in Guiding who have kicked out trans girls when her daughter is trans, and some of the older ones want to write to GGUK to complain. We are doing some other work around equalities too.

As I was going on leave, there was a request to fill rota gaps. I said I could do any of about 4 out of 6 options. Just seen the rota, I’m down for all 4, and then looked at calendar- I’ve tickets for a comedy gig and guide/scout gang show on 2 of them Will I ever get this right???

Car still in being fixed (at horrible cost) so driving a hire car. How do people cope with the sensory overload of some cars? Tick tock as the indicators go, bleep if you drive at 71mph in a 70, flashes on the screen if you are not entirely central in a lane (avoiding potholes) etc etc

I’ve failed annual leave. Only read one book 😳 Have cleared my mum’s clothes and shoes, which dad couldn’t face doing, rewritten my will, sorted all the non-fiction books in the house, deep cleaned my wife’s bit of the craft room and done some Guide planning, but not a restful reading week!

Having gone down to clear out mum’s clothes and shoes, I now know quite how many she had 😳 Several sets of the same pair in different colours, lots which had barely a scuff on the bottom. 2 pairs I might wear Vinted tomorrow for size 6 pas de rouge, hispanitas, Mephistos etc😂
