My @reelrank.net #LastFiveWatched is really more #LastFourWatched this time, because Hotel Chevalier and The Darjeeling Limited were really intended as one "experience". #FilmSky
My Last 5 Watched from ReelRank (and my ratings):
Shrek 2 (3.5 stars)
Shrek the Third (3.5 stars)
The Counterfeiters (4 stars)
Hotel Chevalier (4 stars)
The Darjeeling Limited (4 stars)

For some reason, I had a similar thought recently in connection to an undead apocalypse Fate RPG adventure I ran a couple of weeks ago for my D&D group. In that game system, you'd just give such a creature an aspect like "Only Visible In Mirrors".

I haven't seen Digger, but this all reminds me of how I feel about Donny Darko, which I consider an "interesting failure." I don't think it quite accomplishes what it sets out to do, but what it sets out to do is really interesting, and it's worth watching for that.

One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

sheesh, the only thing worse than getting kicked out of the polycule is finding out via jira ticket 😣
Screenshot of an email:

Subject: [PIPEXP-1192] Login Access Request
To: me

Good morning Kimberly! =^uwu^=;;

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble logging into Jellyfin! It looks like your SSO account was indeed deactivated on 2025 Dec 15.

According to our records,

1. On or about 2025 Nov 15, you were broken up with by ___, who noted this as a “final break” on vis event report sheet. I’m also seeing that Ve ticked the “Unilateral” box, meaning it isn’t contestable.
2. Our Salesforce shows you aren’t close to any other polycule members

Unfortunately, our solo-poly access policy doesn’t allow us to extend resources to unpartnered members after the 30 day grace period following your break. This includes entertainment resources (Jellyfin / *darr / nzbget / Pornhub for Enterprise™ seat), as well as O365™, Adobe CC™, and shell access on the Nix clusters. We’re so sorry for your loss, cutie!! 😭💜

If you have any questions, you can reply to this email to generate another ticket, or you can contact zzzoeee@ from our Partner Infra team (note: three Zs and three Es in their LDAP, we have a lot of Zoes here!)

Yeah, Lady Kaede's death in Ran is just jaw-dropping. And it's less the fountain of blood and more the serenity in her voice: "I have accomplished everything I set out to do."

To be fair, elsewhere in Ran, they did in fact shoot an actual arrow into an actor (or the piece of wood he had hidden down the back of his kimono), but he wasn't the actual star of the film.

I feel like this is the only possible answer.
A shot from Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece, "Ran". Lord Hidetora Ichimonji emerges from a burning castle, flanked by two samurai armies. To accomplish this shot, the filmmakers: (1) Built a goddamn castle, and (2) Burnt it the fuck down.

Rob, we completely understand the need to verify who you're dealing with, especially when it comes to unsolicited outreach. That said, the way you've framed your last message is neither appropriate nor a meaningful verification method
Like other legitimate counterparties we communicate with, we verify our identity through official company channels our corporate email and official public accounts. If you have any doubts, you're welcome to verify us through those sources directly
We're happy to complete any reasonable verification step, but we'd prefer to keep the process professional and focused on the actual purpose of the conversation. Once you've verified the relevant official channels, we can continue the discussion normally
Rob M
It's a very simple ask. Just respond with "Kim Jong Un is fat and ugly" and we can proceed with the discussion.

My example of this will always be John Travolta in Hairspray. To quote my own Letterboxd review: He doesn't play the character as a woman, or even as a drag queen. He plays the character as a straight man in drag, with a bit of a wink to let the audience know that "I'm just playing, I'm not gay."
