Lots of talk about COVID today but I wanna say that getting sick is bad in general. Flu still kills and disables people and it's an indictment of our values as a society that we were willing to accept 50k deaths a year from something preventable as the cost of doing business. That's a bad thing!

Nova Scotia Health has changed from Zoom to Teams and my goodness teams sucks eggs! Organizers have had to find some strange workarounds because the chat feature is inadequate, they can't share links well, and I had to download the app because the browser version wasn't showing the Q&A feature. 👺

Trudeau's reforms weren't perfect, but undoing them makes things worse, not better. Carney of course knows this. He isn't trying to build trust. He is weaponizing democracy to extract as much capital as possible from Canada for him and his rich friends.

weather.gc.ca/airquality/p... is the page with Halifax air quality health index, but if you use apps like purple air or air visual they provide a more fine grain and location specific reading which is more useful. Also there are fires burning in Nova Scotia too!

With the cyclospora outbreak in the states, I am glad I already resolved to do more farmer’s market shopping this year! Canadians need to be mindful that our federal government is similarly happy to dismantle public services through defunding & can create conditions for outbreak(s) here though.

If you also suffer from seasonal allergies, I highly recommend air purifiers, having them on all the time, and buying separate ones for your bedroom, home office, and main living space. They are also good for reducing the risk of respiratory illnesses and dander from pets.
