Police now say two people have died and two have been injured in what they are calling a "serious motor vehicle collision."

A statement from Delta police says the collision happened in the Tsawwassen Mills parking lot around 10:25 a.m. PT.

The two injured individuals were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital, according to the statement.

Police believe the driver of the vehicle "may have experienced a medical emergency" before the collision.

"Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic incident," the statement said.

"The incident is not related to the Truth and Reconciliation Walk that was taking place on Tsawwassen First Nation lands at the time."

Police said there is no ongoing risk to the public.

My ‘Atsoo attended Lejac Residential School (Photo 1) until 8th grade. She was “named” number 89. My mother and her siblings would later attend Lejac day school because my ‘Atsoo was recovering from tuberculosis.

First Nations children are still waiting for safe schools, clean water, adequate housing and equitable services. Meanwhile, Canada somehow finds urgency when the “national interest” is pipelines, mines and major projects. Reconciliation has to mean more than wearing orange once a year. 🧡
