They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

New sword commission! This one for @saltzman.bsky.social ! The request was for a sword that was extremely long, curved, and otherworldly. The starting point was an odachi, but the final design has more in common with a Dacian falx, which is awesome. Want a fantasy sword? They are $50!

This is a sword from my 15+ year D&D campaign and I can’t believe how fucking good it looks. Allison was phenomenal to work with, extremely attentive to detail (I mean you can see it from her work), kind and easy, and sickeningly talented. This came out better than I imagined!!!

My only thought re: Texas song discourse is that I spent a lot of life being told I was a snob. But in reality I really liked music & sharing it & some ppl would react hostilely to my “weird” music. At the same time, I was fully bullied for not liking top 10 pop.
