We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research program focused on immune receptor engineering and spatial analyses of plant pathogens interactions using computational and imaging approaches. The position will involve integration of molecular, imaging, and computational approaches. Relevant publications from the laboratory include Nature Plants (2025, PMID: 40721669), Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (2024, PMID: 38814867), and Cell Reports (2023, PMID: 37342910). https://www.coakerlab.org/
Qualifications:
•	Ph.D. in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, computational biology, or a related field
•	Strong background in genomics and/or computational biology 
•	First author publications in peer-reviewed journals
•	Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
•	Experience in plant innate immunity is preferred

Application Instructions:
The position is initially available for two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. Salary is based on the University of California postdoctoral salary scale (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2025-26/represented-oct-2025-scales/t23.pdf). The salary range for this position is $69,073-$82,836 US Dollars/year. 
Review of applications will begin June 1, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.

I am on version 10 of my NIH Common Form cv because I spent the last 2 hours doing HTML formatting on the text and finding things I missed formatting. My heart goes out to all the reviewers who will be reading biosketches next round that are a sea of plaintext with no white space.

Our dentist dropped out of the Delta Dental network and said it was because Delta’s reimbursement to dentists hasn’t increased in the past 20 years or so. Now we only get about 50% of a dental cleaning paid. I wonder if in expensive places like CT or CA dentists earn enough to run a practice.

he Department of Plant Pathology at the University of California, Davis is seeking applications for a fulltime, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mycology, with a focus on plant pathogenic, symbiotic, 
or mycotoxigenic fungi and fungal-like organisms (e.g., oomycetes). We are looking for a highly 
motivated and creative scientist with a strong background in mycology and/or the biology of fungi and 
fungal-like organisms that interact with plants. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a 
world-class, externally funded research program that integrates both fundamental and applied aspects 
of fungal biology within the context of plant pathology. We welcome applicants pursuing a wide range 
of research topics related to plant-associated fungi, including but not limited to mechanisms of fungal 
pathogenesis or symbiosis with plants, population genomics and evolution of fungal plant pathogens, 
plant-associated fungal microbiomes and plant-microbe interactions, and/or one health approaches to 
fungal diseases and antifungal resistance. Applicants working in other relevant research areas involving 
pathogenic, symbiotic, or mycotoxigenic fungi or fungal-like organisms that affect plant health are also
