Exciting new work characterizing a 🐒 model of ADOA vision loss by @sarathomasy.bsky.social's group. We looked at old behavioral data for 2 🐒 from my lab w the heterozygote ADOA genotype to show had behavioral signs of vision loss, long before we knew to look at their eyes.

Also for people who bemoan "tenure doesn't make people bolder"... I think it's that tenure doesn't make people bold. But IME tenure (and the promotion to full and the promotion to a chair, etc etc) makes the already bold even bolder.

I am so thankful that I am teaching an *amazing* grad class this term. I learned from @baleslab.bsky.social that one way to teach a grad seminar was pick a topic and write a publishable paper as a team. It's been a lot of fun and we've all learned a lot. Highly recommend!

Recognizing that there are a lot of ways to be in the Epstein files that are totally benign (e.g., cited in a paper sent to him), there is a lot of evidence in the files that high profile scientists were engaged morally questionable (at best) behavior. Universities really need to take a stand.

Protip: If you are requesting rec letters, please follow up and make sure they get submitted. I just found requests in my Junk mail, some of which are outdated. Those of us who submit hundreds of letters each year often do not keep track of specific requests. Some may go missed w/o follow up.
