This is the first time I’ve seen one of these beauties on the UC Davis campus away from the arboretum. So pretty! I hope it’s a good omen for the day. I’m not sure what type of bird it is but it was about 3 feet tall!

I’m so excited to be at the @alleninstitute.org Early Career Symposium-Stem Cell and Developmental Biology. While I’m not technically “early career” - I am just as excited about science as I was when I started! I truly appreciate the invite and am enjoying the amazing presentations!

Someone stole my 12-year old son’s bike. And then the school called another mom of a kid with the same name who said he should walk home. So now my kid is distraught thinking I abandoned him to walk home alone with his bike tire after his bike was stolen. That’s how my Thursday is going.

I grew up in a paycheck-to-paycheck household that fell short of needed funds every month. My mom would look at her bank account and know that the $$ that was there would not cover our needs. This is exactly how it feels right now to look at our lab’s remaining funds. Pure dread.

I just had a root canal and the dentist asked me, “how were you living like this?” Well doc, I’ve been gas lighting myself about this tooth and the ache in it for 12 years! ☹️ I grew up without dental insurance and the amount of time, money, and pain I have spent on my teeth as an adult is crazy.
