I recall we had a period of time where the response of Starmer and Cooper to concerns about these groups was ‘I like flags’

I have started dating a man who is very nice but does not share my politics. Any advice?
"You just have to get the fuck out of there. What are you thinking? He must be incredibly attractive-looking. I mean, what is it? Is he tall? Does he remind you of your father? There's only two kinds of politics these days, and you can't breathe the same air as the other kind."

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Forecast in the UK is scorching for the next week. If you can, please put out some water sources. One for bees/butterflies* and one for bigger critters. *Shallow bowl with stones is ideal for insects, so they can drink without drowning. If you can manage a bird-height one as well, brilliant.

Again, when I said the UK is absolutely going to do with the US is doing, just more quietly, I meant it. So...shall we do something about this when we see authoritarian forces grabbing dishwashers in Starbucks? Or is everyone going to be very British about it? www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

The ocean is not an infinite resource for us to exploit. Deep sea mining leaves scars carved in the ocean floor, destroying the area's biodiversity for decades (at least).

I am not following the news but I have noticed that in the same week we have had 1) the full-throated insistence on disability benefits cuts, including the introduction of means testing, justified by specious claims that it 'helps' us into work; 2) the passing of the assisted dying bill

Fuck the Labour Party, and fuck the Labour Government too. Disabled people aren't some fringe interest group, we're a quarter of the sodding population, and the standpoint that constitutes the perspective prioritising our interests produces insights that matter not just to us, but to everyone.

Meanwhile BBC News this morning reports that it’s not a one-two eugenic punch but a triple: govt are seeking to pass policy that mandates DNA screening for all newborn babies in the interests of long term health diagnostics. Labour’s theoretical and ideological commitments around disability suck

Ultimately a huge factor in this is cost of living because so many people will be financially trapped in their living situation, but you rarely see that being brought up for some reason.
