In danger of getting overlooked, what with airing at just after midnight this coming Sunday, an absolutely brilliant Omnibus film from 1988 about Caryl Churchill. I believe the only time anyone's ever attempted to film Fen and those sequences are unforgettable. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

I would also like to add Justin Johnson’s priceless Brian Blessed story from the recording of the Cutaway Comics bonus commentary. BB is merrily TALKING when he stops dead- “OH SHIT! I FORGOT KENNETH BRANAGH’S COMING TO TEA!” Followed by a confused Sir Kenneth looming into view on the webcam…

Dream Academy is a lovely copy. I think All About Eve needs a spin through the Knosti disc cleaner. It’s a bit on the crackly side (but no visual marks so I think it’ll clean up well!)

My Amazon "About You" - all things you might expect, collects vinyl, has a turntable, collects Target books, blah, blah, blah. "Values physical media preservation" is an interesting one... Is that their polite way of saying "consistently sends back warped or dented records we've packaged poorly"?

Very true. Similarly (and conversely) if you don’t really connect with a project - if the prospect doesn’t make your brain catch fire - then you’re probably not right for it. (There’s several tales in this book of him stepping away too)

It is very upsetting when a well-meaning relative buys a book as a gift from Amazon only for it to turn out to be a piece of fake crap. I tell people to use Waterstones, Blackwell's, HMV... any outlet that only sells stuff from legit publishers. Take your business elsewhere.

Picture, if you will, nine year old me - with a father who’d been an engineer, and an ex-teacher for a mum - slowly learning that authority figures don’t like to be told they’re wrong, and sometimes you just have to STFU and fake agreement until you can escape their field of dogmatic idiocy

Looking at the Fonts In Use page for Data 70, and this is one Data 70 book cover I haven't spotted before. Looks like a Ghost Box invention (or something from their imitators) but it's a real book from 1973.
The cover of a hardback book: Voices from the Tapes: Recordings from the Other World by Peter Bander. A b&w photo of four men wearing bulky headphones listening to a tape recorded. Background is filled by a Letratone pattern of blue concentric circles.

I looked up my gran’s old flat and the house I lived in from about 4-7 (and have fond memories of) and the lesson I learned from that was… not to do that again. Better to run through those rooms in my memory

This is a lovely interview with the two actors, clearly full of affection. And if you know the series, full of equally lovely memories. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...
Jane Leeves: I was on the set on the first day of the pilot and I saw David walking in and crossing the bleachers. I went racing up to him like a mad fan because I'd been watching [the Washington-DC-based sitcom] The Powers That Be, which was cancelled for some bizarre reason - it was brilliant and he played the most odd and fabulous character. I don't think you really had any dialogue, did you?

David Hyde Pierce: No, I played a suicidal congressman who only mumbled.

JL: I thought there was a calmness, a kindness and an intellect that was devastatingly sexy, I have to say.

DHP: Well, I thought: I can't believe Paramount Studios doesn't have security... No, I realised that I lucked out getting the best loon in the business.

It’s so crisp and detailed 🤤 Admittedly I’m also listening on a way better stereo and speakers than I’d have had for the original, but still… Gonna have to do a comparison with the ‘remasters’ on disc one. Went straight to the new mixes

The work in progress storylines are challenging me, I don’t know exactly why? Possibly because there’s not much in the way of paragraph breaks or commentary… I can imagine they’d be very useful for anyone doing a deep dive on a particular story though

I had a look at some of the individual story entries... I feel like a disclaimer saying "characters may occasionally say things they know to be untrue/not all lines are statements of fact" might be necessary. Still, it's nice to know I exist in a queer Scottish fantasy folklore corner of Who...

I see someone* has added text to my article on Tardis wiki. You know,I really don't mind that... Definitely had worse reviews/descriptions * not me, I hasten to add.
Gill's work is typically literary, folkloric or based in folkloric tradition, queer, and on the fantasy end of the fantasy-science fiction spectrum. He also sets a large number of stories in Scotland. Recurring characters he created include Luke Sullieman, short-lived Ninth Doctor companions Callen Lennox and Doyle, and the Bloomsbury Bunch, a cracked mirror of the Paternoster Gang consisting of Stonn, Vella, and Tom Foster. He also wrote the launch episode for Class: The Audio Adventures.
