As an aside, Kuaishou isn't a gaming company. They're a short video company like TikTok (Douyin). They recently got into the game development scene in a similar way that TikTok did through acquisitions. But TikTok is too mainstream, I go to Kuaishou to see the real China.

have already said we are using AI for certain
parts of the game and will update the Steam
page once we have finalized the feature set.
Let me clarify that the entire story script,
were it to win an award, would go to some
one who can walk up on stage and receive it.
It was always our intention to reveal this un
til Stella violated her confidentiality clause
and revealed this before we were ready.
We look at our use of AI in this particular
game, which will be a lower priced title, as a
plus for consumers.
As far as Stella is concerned, she was re
placed by someone more talented and ter
minated for a variety of rcasons a few
months later. From what I can gather she
enjoys controversy even more than I do. I
would frankly in retrospect have been happy
to replace her with AI. At least we would be
dealing with somneone programmed to be
honest.

Adding this chart too. The average PlayStation active user purchased around 2 digital games and 0.56 physical games in FY2025. The peak for full game sales was 3.11 per average active user in FY20. Doesn't include F2P which has grown.

Repeated layoffs and unclear direction. I don't know how employees get things done and churn out good games under such conditions. Trimming costs is important but from 2023 onwards, there is some sort of layoff annually at the gaming division.
