I got a response to my Freedom of Information request regarding the LRT upload: There were no communications between the OCTranspo head, the mayor, the city manager or Metrolinx re the upload from March 1st to 26 September 2026. There is no $4 billion deal with the province.

The standard response is about vague plans to improve it in the future. My question was “why can’t we just lower the speed limit until then?” I acknowledge the root of the issue is sprawl, but why do safety issues need to wait for larger plans? Is it stubbornness at the city, or incompetence?

During snowstorms there is at least one car in the ditch on Borrisokane every damn time. In addition, no sidewalks. I see people walking and biking on the 1m wide dirt shoulders which narrow even more at the Jock River bridge. Many, including myself, have reached out to the Councillor about this.

The Western edge of the community is bordered by Borrisokane Rd. An 80km/h zone (drops to 60 at the new Cambrian/Borrisokane roundabout). Retail has opened and housing developed at Flagstaff. Despite the increase in traffic, the 80km/h limit remains there, and no turning lanes have been added.

With a closer look, you can see the sidewalks on the Northwest and Northeast terminate before the new retail. I see no evidence of a connecting sidewalk under construction despite the stores opening soon.

The map doesn’t show it but we now have retail stores on both sides. Residents have to walk on narrow dirt shoulders with their groceries.

Our Ward 3 Councillor has put up new election signs touting things he’s “delivered.” Most are road-related of course. Meanwhile, we are missing sidewalks on Cambrian Rd to connect two sides of the community.
