Lovely evening at the @rideleicester.bsky.social @britishcycling.org.uk Cycle Circuit with the women Learn to Riders. the last Monday evening session of 18 since mid May. 240 interactions, over 70 new participants. All pedalling by the end. So much joy. And the sunset wasn’t too shabby either.

Took my brother and 11 & 8 year old nephews around Leicester on their bikes. My brother was really impressed with the infra and bike park as they have nothing like that in Aylesbury. The 8 year old said he felt safe riding around Leicester. @rideleicester.bsky.social are removing the barriers!

I came to Leicester from Pakistan in 2023 to do a PhD in Economics.
Back home, I always drove, but here I couldn't manage the cost and hassle of a car.
I had stomach and blood pressure issues when I arrived, but it was hard to get a doctor's appointment. I started walking the 45 minutes to university every day and by the time I saw a doctor, my health issues had gone.
I'd thought medication was just part of ageing, but this experience changed my mindset. Walking improved my health, and I realised age really is just a number.
