I don't think I've made this point on this platform before it's no coincidence IMO that so much fash faux nostalgia AI slop is indistinguishable from the most gonzo dystopian "what the whole hep world would be doing Saturday night if the Nazis had won the war, this is the sixth Reich" parodies, IE:
its charlie kirk rting an obviously AI image of a 4th of july parade saying "this is what we're fighting for." indeed.its the roswell level from wolfenstein new order. if you haven't played it, it's really something. before going into the cafe, make sure to explore the whole level, sticking around to listen to the npc dialogue in full. fucking dead on.

Pen, watercolor, black & white charcoal pencil.

Another featured piece from the Spooky Pants book.

A man in a sweater stands with his hands on his hips looking out of a large window with the curtains open. Things aren’t looking good outside, reader. A massive winged demon is emerging from the clouds as dozens of little ghosts and bone demons rip through the sky. On the ground below we see townsfolk running through the grass. Our man in the window is in no mood for this. He lets us know, “Oh, I am in no mood for this.” His dog looks out the window as well, wagging its tail.

Fantasia (1940) inspired drawing. I think I could’ve gone a little heavier with the chaos outside but we’ll try again with fresh drawings this October. I like how the clouds turned out. Trying to balance my sloppy lines with more detail can be tricky but I think we achieved a good result.

You really couldn't have asked for a more good faith way of approaching the subject and yet... extremely disappointing! I experienced this at the 1666 Amsterdam demo. If the tech is so great at what it does, why are you so annoyed when we ask you what it is actually doing?
Both Kanno’s answer and that Steam description are still notably vague, so wanting some actual details, I decided to push the issue. I asked, “So if you were to explain, what using it for ideation actually means. What does that process look like for someone, you know, someone who might not be a game developer?”It was at this point I noticed Kanno become somewhat annoyed that I had not moved on. Following a short exchange with his translator, she told me, “[So], we actually have to update this explanation, if you, uh, could… it’s all written in there [on Steam].”

I decided, maybe unwisely, not to drop this line of questioning, consulting my chicken handwriting in my notebook, “ So I do have the current Steam disclosure here- uh, which is, ‘Gen AI was used as part of the ideation process for background objects. However, no AI-generated content will be included in the final game.’ Uh–”

Before I had a chance to reiterate the parameters of the question and ask again what Gen-AI being used for ideation looked like, Kanno began talking to his translator, seemingly visibly annoyed. She then told me, “So it is as it’s written in the explanation, and today I would like to talk about Crazy Taxi: World Tour and the time is limited.”

In this scene, Linguini and Remy from Pixar's Ratatouille take the place of the EVA unit and Asuka respectively. Linguinis eye is pierced by a fork version of the spear and Remy is depicted in an inset where he is grabbing his eye and screaming like the anime.
