Fellow DOS nerds, looking for some EMM386 insight! I have a particular computer, a dual MMX system on the Intel HX chipset, and it has wild instability when running games using DOS extenders, either crashes or segfaults at startup. UNLESS, I load EMM386. Even with NOEMS is fine. Any ideas?

@pixelmusement.com I'm on a bit of a "Japanese PC" odyssey at the moment, and it reminded me of your Thexder 1+2 episodes. These are PC8801 games. They were limited to the "V2" modes, giving 8 colours at 640x200. The EGA modes in both games' DOS ports could use the original assets 1:1 this way...

Quick shoutout to @mossmouth.bsky.social's Spelunky HD, with its silky smooth "AdLib+" style sound. It was actually the soundtrack that drew me to the game, flicking thru XBLA on the 360 in the day. Imagine my delight when the gameplay had a similarly old school vibe! 10/10 would spelunk again!

#PicoGUS can now emulate both a CDROM drive and Sound Blaster in parallel, smoothly playing both CD audio and SB sound effects simultaneously. Still a lot of polish to do before a new firmware release but I'm excited!! This is MechWarrior 2 with bin/cue stored on a USB stick plugged into the PicoGUS
