My controller icons are now implemented into the game, are autodetected appropriately based on the name of the device plugged in, and if by chance it's a Nintendo device the game swaps the A and B button functions in the user interface! (Gameplay buttons can be user-customized.)
Screenshot from a game world with trees in the background and debug textures in the foreground. Controller icons and their functions are shown at the left side and an on-screen keyboard shows the message: "Hey look, it autodetected my Dualshock 4 controller and is showing the appropriate controller icons!"

...IT IS DONE. ...and yes, they look tiny zoomed out to see the entire atlas, but keep in mind this is vector art with each icon designed to render at 64x64 native resolution on-screen at 1080p or 128x128 at 4K.

Taking a break from the input icons madness for the rest of the night. I got a decent chunk done, including the home buttons which were gonna be the hardest to do right. Following the buttons I also have to do axis inputs but those are much more generic thankfully. :B

I just realized EVERY console's controllers have paddle inputs on the backsides of controllers in some fashion now... great, perfect, MORE inputs I have to fashion input icons for and spend forever finding the correct symbology... >_<

...something you don't realize until you're actually taking a really close look is that the triangle symbol on a Sony controller is considerably shifted up compared to the other face button symbols... but it kinda has to be otherwise they'd have to make it smaller. :P

Tonight's Task: Make the controller input symbols for my game. Before I can do that appropriately though, I needed to cross reference everything and come up with an appropriate map of which buttons go where for which controller brands... GAZE UPON MY MOUSE-WRITING SKILLS! XP
Scribbled notes showing which SDL3 input numbers line up with which controller functions for Sony, Microsoft, and Valve controllers.

BTW: I've read a couple comments now that people are having trouble accessing my website. I assure you, it's been up and functional the entire time; Chances are there's a major node/ISP somewhere that's having a problem and is dropping the connection before it even gets to my site. :(

I spent my evening after doing NNRG work trying to figure out more bottlenecks on the VR side of things with Project AB, only to discover something... odd... I seem to be encountering a physics bottleneck which is ALSO a GPU bottleneck...? ...for a physics engine which is CPU based...? o_O

OK! I FINALLY managed to get my QBASIC game to compile in QuickBASIC! And the answer was really, really, simple... Upgrade QuickBASIC! :D ...the version I have had for the longest time is 4.5, and I THOUGHT that was the last official version of QuickBASIC ever made... ...I was wrong... :O

My QBASIC game is complete and ready for testing and I have learned something incredibly pertinent... ...just because a QBASIC game RUNS in QBASIC and QuickBASIC, does not mean it will COMPILE... I'm getting "out of memory" errors from the QuickBASIC compiler itself. >_<

Interesting... Every so often I get eMails from developers or publishers asking if I'll look at something they're making. Most of the time I decline, and this time around I did the same... ...but it was a publisher for indie titles whereby ALMOST everything is not GenAI... ...again, ALMOST...
