The fact the UK Govt is FINALLY talking about the threat of disinformation is amazing. Bring it on. And rather telling that those who benefit most from Disinfo (Southport, Epsom, "illegal migrants 5x more likely to...") are questioning why we need it. The far right NEED disinformation to survive.

From Andy Burnham's excellent speech at the UN, "Russian agencies have used every means at their disposal and spread lies and disinformation, and prey on people's fears. They've used bots and fake websites..." My view: We've known this since Brexit, so what he is goig to do about it?

Slight elaboration: a huge amount of poverty reduction in the last 50 years has been entirely down to China and India being better-run. But once you pick that fruit you're left with a lot of African countries still living in the fallout of the worst type of colonialism.

This suggests that if enough time is dedicated to homework, regardless of AI usage, performance is roughly the same. This lacks a non-AI comparison for students completing homework in <50 minutes. If I had to guess, rushed homework is going to correlate to bad test scores, regardless of AI.

Note: The figure plots the median and interquartile ranges of exam scores by homework completion time, separately for AI students and non-AI students. It also plots the mean exam score for the Al students before the month they start using generative AL. The data are at the student-month level and the sample is that shown in Panel A of Table 1 with non-missing observations for homework time. There is little evidence of selection, except at the very low and high end, where students are positively selected.

I get the point here but the problem isn’t “DEI” for white people (DEI is good, and aimed to eliminate segregation when done well). The problem is white supremacy, which has *always* elevated unqualified hacks over competence. That’s what got us president Trump.
