I can't even express how important it is to see someone who was willing to give up the thing she was best at, that some would say she was born to do. To only come back when she could love it again, and do it on her own terms. And then win a gold medal BECAUSE she found the joy and the fun in it.

This article is huge and magnificent and it sort of feels like the final word on Neil Gaiman. If you're still looking to, I guess, close the book on how much Sandman meant to you and how Gaiman ruined that, I can't recommend this article enough.

There are few greater betrayals than when a piece of media has a prologue with a fascinatingly weird viewpoint character navigating a fucked up situation, then you get into the story proper and it turns out all that was just the worldbuilding setup for a tedious bildungsroman about about Some Guy.

bringing this statement over from Alice’s Twitter. it appears the below was Alice’s last post before passing. I am heartbroken

This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing.
Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin.
We need more stories about us and our culture.
You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

Panel 1: A muscular guy with upturned hair in a tank-top, wearing a gold chain and gold watch. He is raising his left arm to gesture while speaking, head turned up smugly with his eyes closed, and saying "basically, there are 2 TYPES of men."

Panel 2: He puts down his hand and look confidently ahead. He says "ALPHAS, the dominant WINNERS of the world, and BETAS, the losers."

Panel 3: A girl with swirly glasses, messy hair, and a grey oversized sweatshirt has a pink "ita-bag" strapped on her shoulder. She says "What if there was a third type that could get pregnant."

Panel 4: He looks at her, the confidence of his expression wavering slightly, and says "Bro I am so freakin scared of you."

A fake "Play this game, we have..." banner with the title in question being "Hearse: the visitor". It features a shot of visitor hugging host with a scared face along the text stating "cutesy bonds", a shot of host's blurred face titled "the dead wife trope", librarian's split head with text "athena allegory" and a shot of a blurred photograph titled "memory problems sim".

A simply drawn sketch of host, half tangled into a mass of black tendrils, being "kidnapped" while librarian is watching them both in confusion. The visitor seems equally confused.

A simple sketchy art of the librarian holding the visitor in her arms bridal style, looking unhappy. The visitors looks confused. The host is swirling around them.
