"AI" detectors are, themselves "AI". When you feed a work into it, you're feeding it into the training database without permission of the creator. They work on one of two principles, both of which contain an incredibly high rate of false positives.

We love to see an evil, suicide-encouraging product fail, but keep in mind that we likely haven't seen the end of this one yet. Disney is picking up some of the assets and employees, likely in a bid to replace real actors and animators, and they're trying to sell the platform to keep it going.

The startup has also agreed to sell some of its assets to Disney for $20 million, as well as a non-exclusive perpetual license for its technology.

The company said Disney will provide transition services via former Character.AI employees who joined the entertainment giant last month alongside its former CEO Karandeep Singh Anand.

Adams said the company would continue operating during the sale process, which is expected to close in late November or early December. However, he did note that there isn’t yet a bid for the company’s assets or a buyer.
