Following @pantmonger.bsky.social & @cerberusxt.bsky.social got me into figure painting again. Been 20+ years since I’ve painted but it was so fun! Need better glasses tho. :D Tried painting highlights from a light source for the first time & while it isn’t great (but decent-ish!) I learned heaps.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Another thing I will say is that when it comes to emergent mass action, conveners do not own the movement. Sometimes a call comes from an obscure, odd place and transforms as it captures popular imagination. Ad Busters called for Occupy, for example. But they did not own it or organize it.

The desire to "punish" red states is a knee jerk instinct, there are POC, queer, trans, democratic people there , who cannot simply "move" (another stupid thing people like to say) THINK about those people before you start throwing rocks. It's its more complicated than monolithic atributation.

This was probably caused by an artist looking at bench designs and replicating the "arm rests" uncritically, which is why it's incredibly important for artists of all kinds to be curious and have a broad knowledge base. Because they have now accidentally canonized abuse of homeless people in Kalos.
