In the extreme wing of this movement, some suggest that the way to prevent AI’s harms is simply to refuse to use it. Even if this fundamentalist take is driven by good intentions, it puts vulnerable people at risk, and undermines the best weapon against AI’s dysregulated conquests: a shared understanding of its powers, limitations, and risks.
