A little mourning dove flew right in through a narrow open slat of the window in my in-law's place where we're staying and then flew back out after flying around a bit. It was just me there to see it, and I'm gonna take it as a sign Maggie Boy is okay 🥺 🪶

Maggie Boy passed away 💔 He was a rescue that I had since 2019, and I made the painful decision to rehome him and my other bird Loki last year. He spent his last year of life in the countryside with sunshine, nature and company. He was a crazy lil guy. I'll miss him. 🪶

Should mention that my bachelor's thesis was cultural significance and symbolism of mermaids across the globe and I drew a lot of merboobies, no one batted an eye. I think there's a way to do this without it offending delicate US sensibilities (nip-less boobs a la Fantasia centaur gals)

Finally come to terms with my relationship to art, concluding that I don't really want to sell my art? I believe most artists don't, but capitalism forces us to obviously. But while I want to make and share art, I feel less afraid of just not selling it as hard as before.

"You have to draw every day if you want to make it" is tired, burnout-inducing, elitist advice and if I hear it again Im going to start giving out demerits. Draw when you can, when you have motivation, and if your intent is to improve always try to attach one goal to your drawing to focus on.
