It's an indictment of our for-profit, market-driven housing system that so many homes sit empty while increasing numbers are living on the streets. We'll take real action to bring an end to this practice and redistribute homes left empty for no good reason to those who need it most.

Why Anthony Albanese hates the Greens
Unlike Julia Gillard’s joint signing of the agreement on the Clean Energy Act in 2011, Albanese has never held a meeting in public with the Greens. He routinely meets Greens leader Larissa Waters, but you wouldn’t know it. It’s as if Labor won the last election outright and the Greens don’t exist.

Yep. Most of the largest taxpayers are paying pretty close to the 30% tax rate - which is just their fair share. But also, Woodside ranked as the 12th largest corporate income tax payer, with an effective rate below 20%. Hancock Prospecting paid just 13.7% tax on their $4.2 billion profits.

‘I’m up for a red hot fight’: polarising new Greens leader David Shoebridge is taking on the top ‘1%’ – and One Nation
The 55-year-old senator is renowned for his sharp brain but he divides opinion and could face opposition from the party’s grassroots New Greens leader David Shoebridge has said he is “up for a red hot fight” and hit out at One Nation’s “politics of hate”, signalling a more confrontational style of delivery under his leadership. The NSW senator, elected as leader on Wednesday afternoon following Larissa Waters’ shock resignation, said the minor party would show people it understood their anger and mistrust with mainstream politicians, and “show them who their real enemy is” – the elite 1%. Is this one of those absolute v relative things. Company tax is 30% but a large company paying 1% tax may pay a lot of tax absolutely compared to a small company paying 30% but on principle the large company should be paying 29% more. Billionaires use this argument too

I’ve always favoured the idea of an informal Labor-Greens coalition. But at least with Albanese in charge, that’s not going to happen. He’d much rather deal with the LNP (or, if push comes to shove, One Nation). Adam Bandt tried bargaining hard, and was successfully demonised.
