A while ago I made this chart to illustrate that yearly additions of solar and wind (in TWh of energy) are growing fast while nuclear is largely stable. But solar and wind started small versus the older and established technology nuclear. This year we've reached a new milestone.

Did you know that about half of the climate change we have seen to date is caused by OTHER greenhouse gases beyond CO2? We tend to underestimate the importance of methane, N2O, f-gases, and so on.

David might disagree, but IMHO some of these changes, like disabling autoplay, screentime prompts, non-algorithmic feed options and default time limits getting applied to all users is... not terrible? I'd actually much rather addiction-control settings become standard than to have age verification.

I think for most it's a way to make the grid more reliable, not to replace it. Certainly true in the Netherlands (but we have winters where solar panels are close to useless).

New report from IRENA confirms that "in prime solar and wind regions, hybrid solutions combined with storage deliver round-the-clock power at lower costs than fossil fuels." Renewables+storage = round-the-clock power, cheaper than fossil fuels, in an ever-widening set of geographies. Pretty cool.
