It's an indictment of our for-profit, market-driven housing system that so many homes sit empty while increasing numbers are living on the streets. We'll take real action to bring an end to this practice and redistribute homes left empty for no good reason to those who need it most.

A free, universal school lunch program for public primary school students is a great idea. But it shouldn't - as in this case - be left up to a charity to deliver (currently just as a pilot program in a single school in Moe).

Have 'business leaders' ever seen something that working-class people enjoy that they haven't wanted to get rid of at the earliest opportunity? How about get absolutely f*cked.
A screenshot of a headline from the Australian Financial Review. It reads "New push to axe public holiday after Victorian teams miss grand final". The first two paragraphs of the article, also pictured, read: "Business leaders are calling for the Victorian government to reconsider the AFL grand final public holiday, noting workers are being given the day off before a game in which neither side comes from the host state.
Industry groups say the grand final eve public holiday – introduced in 2015 by then-premier Daniel Andrews – is costly to the economy and puts it at a productivity disadvantage to other states, which do not mark the occasion."

Hanson’s slur that Aboriginal people are a “primitive race” is reprehensible. The politicians condemning her would do well to look in their own backyards. Both parties lock up Black children, neglect and impoverish indigenous communities, and blame Aboriginal people for their own suffering.

Hilarious. Socialism = 'everyone destitute and the leaders live in luxury'? Sounds more like Australian capitalism where the top 10% control almost half the wealth, and the bottom 60% have just 17% combined. Also the pearl clutching over 'unionist and pro-Gaza links' and hating on John Howard. 😂
A screenshot of a post on X by @Lisa9Sophia which reads: "A socialist vision: Everyone destitute and the leaders living in luxury

Here’s hoping the AFP and ASIO are watching these people very closely

Their unionist and pro Gaza links are concerning enough

But Omar Hassan says “I’ve been a lifelong trade unionist, which I was taught by my parents - along with a deep hatred of the Liberals in general and John Howard in particular”

His parents taught him to hate John Howard?"

As if the billions in public funds flowing to elite private schools like Brighton Grammar wasn't enough, now they're pursuing sweetheart deals with councils to take over public land! Meanwhile, public schools struggle to maintain even the most rudimentary of facilities for their students. 😡
A screenshot from an article in the Age newspaper. The headline reads 'This school has a pool, tennis courts, soccer and cricket pitches. Now it wants the nearby public park'. The text reads: "A plan for an exclusive all-boys school to lease public parkland in exchange for upgrading the park’s facilities has split the community and sparked concerns it would lock up public land for private use.
Brighton Grammar School has applied to Bayside City Council for a lease on Wilson Recreation Reserve, which stretches across 1.7 hectares opposite the school and is one of the few areas of open parkland in Brighton."

Rinehart once again proving herself a woman of the people. Very sorry our 18-year-old candidate said she's pushing for Australians to work for $2-a-day when she merely (very relatably) implied they should probably accept much lower pay in order to compete with workers in Africa who might accept $2.

Our policy on pubs as essential community 'third spaces' featured in the industry publication 'PUBtic'. "We know that community ‘third places’, where you can be with your friends and stay warm in winter and cool in summer without paying for the privilege, are disappearing and we want to fix that.”
A graphic showing part of an article in the publication PUBtic on different political parties' policies on pubs. The quoted section of the article reads: "A party taking a distinctly different approach is the Victorian Socialists. Their arts and culture policy explicitly recognises pubs as important community “third places” and proposes supporting them as venues for live music, social sport and community activities.

The policy includes using incentives and tax settings to reduce reliance on poker machine and alcohol revenue, encouraging venues to diversify through entertainment, affordable meals and community events."
