On the territory of the Tauric #Chersonesos Reserve, the ruins of the ancient Greek polis, which were recognized as a #UNESCO World Heritage Site, Russia will soon open a huge entertainment park.
Bulldozers work on the site with a ten-meter cultural layer, where, according to archaeologists, there could be tens of thousands of valuable historical artifacts.
Putin voiced the idea of building a park on the territory of the reserve back in 2015 during a trip to Sevastopol with former Italian PM Berlusconi; now the park is being built in record time.
Why it's personal: my grandfather's sister lived right near the historic site. I remember us walking together as she told me about the Chersonesos every time we paid a visit. Now it's gone. Picture of what it has been above.

Nature, which previously reported on NSF’s grants shortfall, said it can “be attributed mainly” to the agency keeping more than $1 billion in an account, much of which is for the White House’s Grand Research Challenges project, which is meant to support specific fields, including artificial intelligence. The project was mentioned in one line in a Sept. 10 NSF memo: “In the coming weeks and months, NSF will announce a series of Grand Research Challenges to take thesis-driven bets that stand to unlock new frontiers of S&T [science and technology].”
