President Donald Trump claims the U.S. Secret Service wants him to rebuild the Oval Office.“‘Sir, we think the Oval Office should be taken down, and we’ll build a new one, sir,’” Trump told Time Magazine, allegedly quoting a Secret Service official. “I said, ‘My ass, you can’t build a new one. This is a special place.’”According to The Washington Post, Trump’s claim was not unusual; the Secret Service has pushed prior administrations to “fortify” the office, but that would require relocation. Trump also said he had been thinking about making the Oval Office a federal landmark, but as The Post noted, it is already a National Historic Landmark.“I’ve been asking [chief of staff Susie Wiles] for six months to give me a statement. Will we save this room? Will we make it a federal landmark?” he said.

He hasn’t been president for almost a decade now.
