This man is a monster. He seeks out women survivors because he hates them. And he hates them because he hates himself. He has harassed me and other women survivors many times over the years. It must end. He should never have a job anywhere.

If you are so extraordinarily stupid that you fall for a standard Republican trans panic ruse, I cannot trust you to represent me in office. This is like media literacy 101. Your colleagues are going to run circles around you. Dupe you into anything. I'd be safer running and representing myself.

The point is that it's not going to stop with sports. They are using this seemingly ✌🏾reasonable✌🏾 argument about sports to scaffold other forms of discrimination against trans people writ large and cis women too! Conservatives want to push all women out of sports ultimately. What's more:

It's always interesting when people want to tell you to vote for the "more electable" candidate, which always just so happens to align with their political leanings. Vote for who you want to see in the seat - that's how they get elected and become electable.

I have said repeatedly that Russell Vought should be impeached. Congress appropriates and this is a high crime against its powers under Article I. The most important thing DOGE did was take over the appropriations pipes at Treasury. If you wanted to close USAID and CFPB pass a bill.

Is Taco Bell growing their own lettuce? No. They get their lettuce from companies like Taylor Farms (that has 1/3 of the market *including hospitals*). This is deflection on the part of the federal government, which specifically cut funding for food safety screening/testing.

At every level of government, politicians think they get to choose the candidates and voters have to go along with it. It's anti-democratic and it harms voter turnout because voters aren't getting real choices.

Rep. Mark Pocan (WI-02) held OMB Director Russell Vought's feet to the fire during today's Congressional hearing. Pocan continually demanded that Vought answer for the many global deaths he helped facilitate by canceling USAID's funding, firing all of its employees, and effectively shuttering it.

“How much is a magical world worth?” A beautiful thread about Cabo Verde, the Peace Corps, and the World Cup:
Jill Tucker
@jilltucker
X.com
If you ever doubt how magical this world is, one day you will decide to go to a World Cup watch party in Oakland that you found online to root for a country where you spent two years trying to coax English out of the mouths of Cape Verdean teenagers. 1/7

And at the watch party you will ask the organizer if he's from Cape Verde. He will say yes, from Praia. And you'll say oh! I lived there for two years. I was a teacher. And he will ask, "What's your name?" You will tell him and he will say,
"You were my teacher."
CABO VERDE

And across 30+ years and 6,000 miles you will hug a now man who tried to find you and remembered the songs you taught him and his classmates and he will apologize for how badly behaved they all were. And you will laugh and try not to cry and gape in wonder at at this crazy world.

Jill Tucker
@jilltucker

You will remember how much you love the World Cup. And what the Peace Corps meant to you. What those students, 40 to a class with no glass on the windows, meant to you.

Ivan, the grown man with a touch of grey in his beard, will tell you later he has struggled to describe what it meant to him to meet again - that he shared our photo with classmates.
And when he returns from watching the Cabo Verde game, we will try to find the words together.

Jill Tucker @jilltucker • 20h And then you read that the US
House of Representatives will vote a day before that game on an amendment to eliminate the Peace Corps, which costs 1/6 the price of the Tomahawk missiles the US used in the war on Iran.

www.politico.com/live-updates... republicans poisoned the smithsonian women's history museum bill because they're ideologically opposed to women, history, and museums in that order
While 127 Democrats cosponsored an earlier version of the bill, most of them bailed after Republicans altered it ahead of the floor vote.

New language added in the House Administration Committee last month dedicated the museum to “preserving, researching, and presenting the history, achievements, and lived experiences of biological women in the United States” and prohibited the institution from seeking to “identify, present, describe, or otherwise depict any biological male as a female.”

Other new provisions called for “an equal representation of the diversity of the political viewpoints and authentic experiences held by women in the United States” and gave President Donald Trump the unilateral power to relocate the museum from sites already identified on the National Mall.

The Democratic Women’s Caucus announced earlier this week it would oppose the altered bill after working on it with Republicans for years.

There’s nothing “science-based” about this FDA review. There are 100+ high-quality studies demonstrating the safety of mifepristone. There’s no conflicting evidence about health or safety — it’s a clown report from anti-abortion orgs that’s not peer-reviewed & has about 48 internal validity errors.
5/14 tweet from the official FDA account, which states, “FDA is committed to protecting the health and safety of women. The Supreme Court's order, issued today, maintains the status quo with respect to the REMS governing mifepristone. The FDA will press forward to complete its science-based safety review of the mifepristone REMS and, in an effort to provide greater transparency, will provide updates as key milestones are reached.”
