The sounds behind them had long dampened as they'd ran through this forest together, dense with its strange coloured trees and flora. Even the smell of them was obscured by the salt and stringent other ahead.

The raiding party and their spoils were mute now, Orpheus the only clear voice left as Voss stumbled over ground that grew rockier. Grass that grew sparser, a stranger colour with grains of something he wanted to pick up. Looked like stardust in day.

The treeline was sparse. And his hearts were hammering as he stared through the gaps, seeing something moving ahead. The source of the salt and the swell of sound.

A glance to see Orpheus is near, with him. A twitch in his smile as he sees smears of mud and blood. Of a fresh psionic burn ragged over his skin like lightning. Reckless.

100%. For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract.
