what i've always appreciated most about "come from away" is how, in a musical revolving around the unity + compassion of neighbors after 9/11, it took pains to show how gutwrenchingly often that unity did NOT extend to our muslim friends. anything less in a retelling of 9/11 is revisionist bullshit.

i had to say goodbye to cassie last night. she was 17 years old -- 17! what a life!! -- and all she wanted these last few months was to be near me. i'm glad i got to give her that at the end, at least. she was the sweetest cat, a gigantic pain in my ass, and i'm going to miss her so, so much.
