watching my English degree go from a punchline to a superpower over the last 20 years sure has been Something.

if i want top surgery i'm paying $15k out of pocket, minimum, bc you fucks banned my insurance from covering all gender affirming care regardless of age. can i go to one of these schools that'll do it for free with no waiting period? like. DAMN.

can i be real a sec: every time some gop asshole talks about kids going to school one gender and coming home another one, all i can think is, "goddamn i WISH it was that easy"

In case you missed it last night: we are seeing reports all over the country of immigration surges and state violence. If you need whistles for your community, we will send you 100-3000 3d printed for free, and we will love doing it. 3dwhistles.com

Did you know you only need a small brain to make silly little drawings?

4 panel comic:
Panel 1: pink blob guy on a table, pencil in their hands. Grey circle on a piece of paper and a glass of water on the table. They say “look here”
Panel 2: Proudly, they hold up the drawing of a grey blobby character on two stick legs up in the air. The pink blob says “I drew this!”
Panel 3: Satisfied they sit back down on the table. They now go “it’s not much, but..” The grey drawing looks a bit peeved because the drawer is calling it “not much”
Panel 4: But it’s okay, because now the pink blob is very pleased finally. He says “it came from my brain!” Holding the pencil up. The grey drawing blob is happy again, too. End well, all well!

never has it been more obvious my web design skills are 20+ years out of date than thinking, "how hard could it be to pull the data from my PDS repo and display it on a static website?........ oh."

YEAH SAME. like the second or third song in "come from away" is just people trying to figure out what to do to help "'cause I can't watch the news anymore," and the first time i saw the show i was like Oh. Oh Shit I'm Gonna Be Crying A Lot Aren't I.

Phoenix @phoenix.omg.lol · 12/09/2026

anyway, this has made up the bulk of my feelings today, in between the generalized sorrow and reminiscing that happens every big milestone anniversary. "never forget" ought to mean remembering the full truth of that time, not whitewashing it. bsky.app/profile/pear...

who gets included/excluded when We All Came Together As A Nation? the answer will not shock you!

151

Phoenix @phoenix.omg.lol · 12/09/2026

what i've always appreciated most about "come from away" is how, in a musical revolving around the unity + compassion of neighbors after 9/11, it took pains to show how gutwrenchingly often that unity did NOT extend to our muslim friends. anything less in a retelling of 9/11 is revisionist bullshit.

now i just need to figure out what to do with the fanbinding site. i haven't bound anything new since 2023 and i honestly don't know when i will again, given the RL givens. maybe i'll just redirect the domain to my old tumblr, idk.

also the guy running my current host has fully gone down the AI rabbit hole with a nice dash of treating X like it's still a content-neutral platform and it feels gross staying there

Phoenix @phoenix.omg.lol · 08/09/2026

it's september, which means i go "hm, what if i completely rearranged the blog i haven't touched in a year and ported it to yet another platform" (look, offprint.app looks like my open protocol jam and is WAY less janky than my current setup)

also i'm pretty sure scream-singing "welcome to the black parade" once a day will cure me of all ailments past present and future. (when my voice can manage it anyway. thank u, T, being a newly minted tenor rules!! now can i. uh. project my voice at all without it cracking pls)

Phoenix @phoenix.omg.lol · 21/08/2026

anyway they played Nats Park a few nights ago and the elder millennials were abuzz, so i finally listened to the black parade all the way through chat. chat did you know this album fucking slaps. didja know!!!

Phoenix @phoenix.omg.lol · 21/08/2026

i completely missed the MCR boat 20 years ago bc the black parade came out when I was drowning in (a) grad school (b) horrific untreated depression (c) a folk-pop & acoustic fixation (also i kept mixing them up with panic at the disco)

i had to say goodbye to cassie last night. she was 17 years old -- 17! what a life!! -- and all she wanted these last few months was to be near me. i'm glad i got to give her that at the end, at least. she was the sweetest cat, a gigantic pain in my ass, and i'm going to miss her so, so much.

a salute to this patriot: "Look… we all have fantasized about it. But this time I did it. The shirtless CCC statue… it did things to me I couldn’t explain. It had been too long since I’d felt the carnal union of iron and flesh. Me and that statue - we didn’t just have sex. We *fucked*." 🫡
