Pack 1 week of clothes into a carry-on and do laundry on the weekend if it's more than a 1 week trip. Yes, they have laundromats in other countries.

The number of "technically sound but provides no insight" papers is infinite, sadly. This is why all mega-journals that have said policy contains endless amount of utter trash, sadly.

It's a shame no chemist ever came up with the idea to say "I'm working on something that might kill all of humanity, so please give me several billion dollars so I can stop myself" That feels like something that should've been right up our alley

Erika Ishii's inclusion is not a "controversial announcement". This is elevating weird gamergaters' boring whining as deserving of attention. There's no "sides" to this, there's no "issue": It's a talented performer who's done nothing wrong being hated for who they are.

Y’all …I’m really tired of encountering people who think 4 year schools are superior to 2 year schools. The snooty gatekeepers are so full of themselves…sorry…2 years are open enrollment. We teach everyone despite their struggles. Yall are too scared and elitest to do that. You aren’t better.

People under say 40 years old have only known dirtbag, crony capitalism. Of course that isn’t appealing. If people wouldn’t have been so greedy, and gad built a more Nordic Capitalist system here, you wouldn’t have socialists gaining an audience at all.

Not only did they absolutely beg for this, they made it so that “merit” was synonymous with being white so now you’re stuck with precisely the kind of moron who believes that. www.politico.com/news/magazin...
Everyone knows what the problem is: The organizations that bring young staffers to Washington, D.C. have spent the last decade prioritizing blind ideological loyalty instead of competence or intelligence,” said a senior GOP congressional staffer, granted anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel issues. “We have a generation of rabid, incompetent idiots.”

Yeah, this applies to everything. Non-experts using AI will fail to catch errors in review precisely because they don't know the topic. Derp. And companies replacing junior employees with AI will find out the hard way that without the jr>sr pipeline, they'll have no senior SMEs to check the work!

Agree that finding the exact cutoff will be exceedingly hard, but maybe drawing some line that we can all agree is exploitation is where we start. Mine is a CEO earning more than 100x what he pays the janitor. If you can figure out how to pay him 100k per year, you earned your 10M.

I'm for regulated capitalism myself. To get there, the first step needs to be trust busting 2.0, and politicians campaigning against corporate cronyism that hurts consumers are likely to get support from voters. Many people (stupidly) voted for Trump believing he would stand up to corporations.

Again, what right wing Republicans and Democrats call "socialism" is the sort of regulated capitalism that was consensus for much of the 20th century. They pretend it's anti-market when really it's only anti-oligarchy

Failure to act on bullying and persistent negativity is a leading reason why employees leave an organization—more significant than salaries or wages. A study from MIT Sloan found “toxic corporate culture” to be 10.4 times more important than compensation in an employee’s decision to resign.

it's exceptionally wild because PageRank is essentially a proto-LLM conceptually, except they used to have guys who fixed bad results and prevented people trying to game it, in recognition of the fact that the algorithm only recognizes patterns in digital text; it doesn't and can't think for itself.

The claim that RFK Jr has a functioning brain is not an "evidence-based claim" because studies have not ruled out the possibility that a parasite ate all the gray matter and there is nothing left in his skull but worm shit.
