We've had the ability to watch, say, Counterstrike marathons, Street Fighter tournaments, or chess matches between computers since the 90s. Spectacles which, by their very definition, would be at a "higher standard" than human play. And nobody wants it. It's entirely meaningless. It has no appeal.

One of the things to come from GamerGate was the gamification of torturing real, live women...hounding them out of their homes, making them look over their shoulders for years. In 2018, Annalinda Martinez and her daughters became homeless. She went to Georgia's child welfare agency looking for help finding housing. Instead, the state took her children. Then DFCS began charging her for their foster care. Those bills eventually left her $13,000 in debt.

More thoughts on why "POV character Must Have Agency!!!" drives me nuts in novel format. As a player and lover of narrative games, I am painfully aware of the fact that the novel *by nature* is a passive form in which to receive a story. You cannot make it an Active experience; there is no Agency.

I understand why my mother killed herself. But if I could go back in time and tell her not to do it, I would. I can't go back in time, so instead, I talk about my mental issues and depression and try to make it okay for people to get help. I have been so lucky to have had great support networks.
