If by "collaborate" you mean "incidentally prompted each other" then yeah, pretty much. Which is sort of what's going to happen when "models prompting other models prompting other models" becomes your structure and then you don't put firebreaks on execution of the output by the harness.

“Hype is eating the future, and leaving us the bones.” Sun-ha Hong of UNC-Chapel Hill says the Silicon Valley hype machine systematically “borrows credibility from the future to purchase legitimacy in the present.” The cost, he argues, is a planetary-scale drain on our alternatives.

Tech Hype is Cannibalizing the Future
Every day, we are told that we live in the future—but hype is eating the future and leaving us the bones," writes Sun-ha Hong.

I'm also a fan of "minimum punishment for financial crimes is forfeiture of all gains, then punitive fines assessed. And no, YOU don't get to tell us your gains, we'll get outside forensic assessment to do that and take a generous approach"

It might be different if fines scaled. $1MM fine might be nothing to a billionaire, but 1% of wealth per infraction might start making them take notice. Fixed dollar fines are definitely regressive.

It really is too perfect that the same people who claimed participation trophies were ruining our children and keeping them from actually achieving things have devoted their lives to a man who demands the world’s most prestigious trophies for doing nothing at all.

I would be EXTREMELY annoyed to discover my PR is "AI"-generated, and as someone bombarded with dozens of "AI"-generated emails daily, I assure you the stink of "AI" is immediately noticable and immediately dismissible. Publishers are not doing their new books any favors in using it.

My latest @newscientist.com cartoon
Panel 1: a large robot (composed of AI servers, network switches, storage arrays, and power distribution units) and a human are talking.

Professor "You don't want to destroy humanity do you, lLLM-A-9300x?"

Robot "Haha. What a silly question, Professor. I have no desires or feelings of my own whatsoever."

Professor (relieved)"Oh good."

Panel 2: they walk on. The robot continues "I am merely a tool of the company that created me. And that company, being composed of humans, will naturally have humanity's best interests at heart."

Panel 3: The professor is conspicuously quiet.
"Right?" says the Robot.
…
More silence

"Professor?"

Not only should we introduce penalties and fines for the companies that break important things by designing crappy software, we should introduce regulations and penalties for the media outlets that act as accomplices by shifting responsibility away from the companies that cause these failures

What conceivable reason would I have to allow YouTube, an app on my phone, to "determine relative positions of nearby devices" ever?? Hell no you may not, you (poorly) play videos on my device! That's not location-dependent! And tech bros wonder why people hate modern software.

One or more humans designed the wrappers around the models. One or more humans designed the testing parameters and environments, and even more humans approved those measures even after previous illegal results. Throw them all in jail and liquidate the company.

dc statehood is non-negotiable after trump's actions in his second term. republicans despise the people of the city that hosts them, and there is little reason to think that, now that the seal is broken on treating them as an occupied population, a next republican president will be more restrained

There's virtually no way to prevent such a platform from being abused. It WILL be abused, because its market lacks any specificity around which to develop expertise and safeguards. "Prediction markets" will be abused as a matter of course and arguably provide no benefit.

As @klg.bsky.social notes, Hegseth has doubtless not read Charles Dickens' letter to The Times on witnessing a public hanging, but we must. kerryngoldsworthy.substack.com/p/the-execut...
"The horrors of the gibbet and of the crime which brought the wretched murderers to it faded in my mind before the atrocious bearing, looks, and language of the assembled spectators."
