Steffen Skjottelvik wanted to follow in the footsteps of Norway’s great adventurers. He planned a multiyear trek through rivers, forests and snow in the Canadian wilderness. Only his sled dogs returned, and rescuers found an SD card containing more than 20 hours of video diaries from his journey.

"Why can't we run government like a business?" asked the morons of America. This is why. You get marketing rebrands instead of governance, scams & bankruptcies instead of fiscal stability. You get humans reduced to "consumers," & public goods treated as "inefficiencies" or as resources to exploit.

So, so morally bankrupt to do this. And on a practical level--stupid. “If we get diesel from Russia, basically it means that their existing customers are not going to get it and they’ll have to go somewhere else, and that will keep the price basically where it is now” apnews.com/article/trum...

Boosting US oil supplies with Russian diesel unlikely to have much impact on prices, experts say
A new pact that calls for Russia to boost the U.S. supply of diesel over the next few months is unlikely to make a dent in painfully high prices at the pump or elsewhere, energy policy experts say.

300,000 tons of diesel is something like 2.25 million barrels, which is considerably less than what the U.S. goes through in a single day (~4.0 million barrels). I assume he chose the bizarre unit of "tons" rather than the more familiar barrels to mask this fact.

A Sanhedrin that executes a transgressor once in seven years is characterized as a destructive tribunal. Since the Sanhedrin would subject the testimony to exacting scrutiny, it was extremely rare for a defendant to be executed. Rabbi Elazar ben Azarya says: This categorization applies to a Sanhedrin that executes a transgressor once in seventy years. Rabbi Tarfon and Rabbi Akiva say: If we had been members of the Sanhedrin, we would have conducted trials in a manner whereby no person would have ever been executed.

Smile, it’s Friday! 😃 Meet ‘The Oldest Smile in the World’ a tiny face that’s been smiling for some 7,400 years! Carved from oak during the Mesolithic, this small human figure was found in 1966 in a layer of peat during dock construction at Willemstad in the Netherlands. #FindsFriday #Archaeology
My photo shows a human figure roughly carved from dark brown oak wood during the Mesolithic period about 5,400-5,300 BC. It is 12.5 cm tall with a long body with two finger-shaped indents on the right hand side (left in my photo), suggesting it was made to be held in the hand. The stylized head has deeply carved eyes, nose, and open mouth. The triangular shape of the mouth makes it look as if the figure is smiling, leading to its description as ‘The oldest smile in the world’. It is displayed against a black display case background at Landesmuseum Halle in Germany where the figure is currently on loan for the ‘Shamaness’ exhibition. It is part of the permanent collections of Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden, Netherlands. It was found in a layer of peat in 1966 during the construction of a dock at Willemstad, North Brabant, Netherlands.
