"Mysteries of Love" kicked off the whole Badalamenti/Lynch/Cruise collaboration, but Lynch's first choice for this scene would've been pretty great, too.

Love David Lynch dearly but the Mark Frost quotes from this make it clear that Twin Peaks had TWO visionary artists at the helm.

Surely someone's noticed this before, but just connected the rock throwing scenes from Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks. Jeffrey is bored and impulsive while Cooper is intuitive and intentional through his use of the Tibetan Method. In the following dissertation, I will...

Jeffrey Beaumont about to throw a rock in Blue Velvet.

Dale Cooper about to throw a rock in Twin Peaks.

Watched this fantastic film again. Bursting with quiet humanity, it's such a beautiful swan song for Harry Dean. David Lynch's monologue about his lost tortoise, President Roosevelt, is genuinely heartbreaking. Hard to believe we've lost them both.

To think Al Strobel was originally cast for the pilot to be a one-off visual reference to The Fugitive. But his chilling performance in the international ending (later Cooper's dream) instantly made him one of the most powerful icons of the show's deeper mysteries.
