Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

What is the next book is 100% most important to me. Even if the answer is "no idea, check back later", or "maybe in two years". I just want to know if there will be (potentially) more, or if I'm backlist only territory.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue approaches Green with a question.
Blue: Have you seen my dry-brushes? I can't find them anywhere.
Green: The wall elves.

Blue raises an eyebrow in disbelief, while Green continues calmly.
Blue: ...What?
Green: The wall elves. They steal your stuff and carry it to their nest.

Blue's eyebrow rises further as his suspicion increases, but he still sits down to listen.
Blue: ...Like the "borrowers"?
Green: No, borrowers are discreet and polite.

Both Blue and Green turn to look as a troop of teeny tiny elves, barely larger than ants, go past them while carrying a paintbrush.
Green: Wall elves will just curse you if you see them.
Wall elf: (censored curse word) you.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are floating, eyes closed, cuddled up so tightly that they're coiled together.
Green, narrating: I want to cuddle in zero gravity. You could sleep without being bothered by me tossing and turning and you could keep us both warm, we won't need blankets.

A view of the foxes, floating in the deep blue darkness of space, illuminated by the moon and stars.
Green, continuing to narrate: If it weren't for oxygen, we could space travel.

Brave Truth is here! Brave Truth is set in 1950. It's a M/M romance about figuring out how to build the life you want to have, recovering from moral injury, and whether it's possible to change a relationship with a parent. It's full of competence and friendship. celialake.com/book/brave-t...
Cover of Brave Truth by Celia Lake displayed on a tablet resting on brightly coloured scattered flowers - reds, purples, and yellows are visible behind the tablet. The cover is a deep orange shading to sepia, with two men in 1950s suits silhouetted. One, at the centre, reaches out for a bottle of cider on the table by his left hand, the other stands with his hands behind his back, both of them intent on the conversation. Behind them is a circular tower, ivy trailing from several spots. Glowing stars swirl up and around them.

For your convenience, the Pride and Prejudice live-posting super-thread 📚
A drawing of Elizabeth Bennet, a lovely young woman with her long hair tied up nearly under a ribbon and wearing what is most likely a neo-classically inspired dress, looking pensive, two letters in her hand. Meanwhile Darcy, a handsome but stern-looking fellow, looks longingly at her. Also there is me, a little gremlin in big round glasses, skulking about in the background and hoping that they kiss.

The accompanying text reads “Trung reads Pride and Prejudice for the first time, somehow.”

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue approaches Green with a question.
Blue: Hey can you help me make up my mind about something?

Green sits calmly and listens as Blue goes on, ponderously tapping his chin with the tip of his tail.
Blue: Okay, so I've got three options- no, wait, the second option makes no sense for this.

Green sits still while Blue goes on, looking over his shoulder to the direction he came from.
Blue: And now that I think about it, the third one is the same as the fist, but worse.

Satisfied with this talk, Blue carries on, returning the way he had come. Green has not moved at all.
Blue: The first it is, then.
Green: Glad to help.
