In the summer of 2013, two esoteric, technical, incredibly important texts were published within weeks of one another: the first is the Snowden leaks, which revealed a system of global, pervasive digital surveillance. 1/

"Eugène Delacroix's painting 'La Liberté guidant le peuple' ('Liberty Leading the People'), depicting the French revolution as a ragtag group of peasants led by a flag-waving, bare-breasted incarnation of 'Liberty.' The painting has been altered: the scene is now being observed with a giant, smoke-shrouded CCTV dome, and the distant building have been replaced with a mainframe computer.

I see Rod Liddle has died. Apropos of nothing, here's my poem "You Put the Fun in Funeral."

On the morning of your funeral,
it felt odd to dress in black.
The mood was celebratory –
You weren’t ever coming back.

"It's nice to see so many here,"
the chirpy vicar said.
Little did she know that we were there
to make sure you were dead.

I look round at all the faces there,
at your only legacy.
The hurt, betrayed, the cheated -
All combinations of those three.

Your family stand there all serene
and eulogize some lies
about a warm honourable soul -
It’s nobody we recognise.

My florist, she refused to make
a wreath out of nightshade
so in the end Forget-me-nots
were at your graveside laid.

You would have seen the irony
had you had any sense.
We'd love to forget all about you
and all you represent.

The only tears we shed that day
were strictly crocodilian,
All hoping it was true what the eulogy said, that

I keep saying what this post says, but people just don’t get it. They think that AI will magically fix the fact that there are many repositories of information in every business, many of them wrong or badly written. AI can’t tell what’s important or what is true in the slop that’s fed into it.

Because of the first-past-the-post system, REF are winning seats because the GRN are taking votes from LAB, not because REF are taking votes from them. In a GE it is much more likely that tactical voting will mean this will not happen. But only if LAB stops acting like REF & Starmerism is ended.

It is clear that the Labour party is losing plenty of seats to Reform. One might therefore conclude that it is Reform who are doing the most damage to Labour in terms of the vote.
However, that is not the pattern that is emerging from the results in the BBC's "key wards".
A sharp fall in Labour's performance is accompanied more often by an above average Green performance than it is by a strong
Reform performance.
Meanwhile, it is the Conservatives who appear to be suffering most where Reform is advancing most.
It should be remembered that Labour may often lose seats to Reform because it is losing votes to the Greens, while the Conservatives are losing votes to Reform. The net effect can be that Labour end up losing a seat to Reform.
